Of Recipes and Elixirs

If you ever wake up
in a bit of a funk,
not sparking on all cylinders,
feeling out of alignment
with the holy spirit vibration,
my best recommendation
is to sit in dark silence,
breathe deeply as you allow
your subconscious to swirl,
and meditate for a spell;
then stroll outside
to stretch in the grass
with your bare feet
grounded upon the earth.

After that comes the kicker.
Keep your head on a swivel
so you can witness a magical scene
as several squirrels
suddenly race across
the bridge of branches
over the house’s roof
in three waves:
two by four by three
to form a gang of nine
frolicking creatures
running up and down trees
and chasing each other around playfully.

It’s the sweetest remedy
to release any gnarly tension
and give way to the beauty
of God’s glorious creation
as it unfolds with whimsy and wonder.
