Through the cracks (Photo: Faye Sarras)

Not wet the pavement
Not yet the great event
Pushing through the cracks
Showered by silken tissue
Beneath the breaking buds
In the shade perhaps sleeping
A sheet covers her waiting toes
At the other end her eyes peeping
