First They Came For…

“Don’t you dare
come within
six steps of me!”
the hen pecked.

The proud rooster
kept his distance
and called the sun.

“We saw them gathered
in the vineyards
singing psalms
without their coverings,”
a mob of weasels
reported to the SS.

The God-fearing
kept on praising
despite the heat.
