It’s Elementary

Some people believe one idea
and some people believe another
but such disagreements don’t matter much
in a free and open society
where a reasonable amount of the people
are still more or less sane.

The problem tends to arise
when certain people begin to believe
they are cloaked in an armor of moral superiority
which magically grants them the right
to silence, censor, suppress, and politically persecute
those they consider to be a threat.

Well, congratulations, cupcakes,
all you’ve managed to do
is perk up the Spidey sense
of all the people who were happy
just lounging around in the middle
going about their own business

because when truly sovereign souls
witness an authoritarian ideology start to bite
they find the situation to be detestable and untenable
and so by necessity of survival
they choose to join hands
with the people under attack.

It’s how the karmic scales of society
are returned to a state of harmony
after a bunch of petty tyrants
get too big for their britches
and decide to loosen fits of chaos
across the land.
