Old Hat Blues
by Scott Thomas Outlar / March 20th, 2022
Caught in the crosshairs
on a stage
where puppets play with pawns
while even their strings are pulled
by forces behind the scenes
whose world domination schemes
hold no value for us
or the fools who sold out our futures
Oh, to flip a switch
and shine a light
on those beastly eyes
that hunger for our blood
Oh, to wield a sword
and slash straight through
each tentacle of the system
that struggles at our throats
but it’s the same old game
it’s always been
and here we stand again
with one more round
for control of the throne
