The love of the headless horseman

What use the head
among the dead
no thought lost
at unknown cost
All was felt
before he knelt
the neck to blade
more life forbade
Yet in the heart
a soul irate
grave injustice
did contemplate
and whence dwelléd
his last meal
all wrath subsided
her love to feel.
