Springtime in Paris

In the springtime
With the sky
A mixture of mauve
And slate
Walking toward
The crest
Of the unknown
With a view to the past
And the present
Swollen with possibilities
Beyond flesh and bone
And spattered
With the blood of loss
But still standing
With eyes that have seen
Too much
With scattered thoughts
Dancing
On the head of a pin
Seeping fervid prayers
For forgiveness
And stumbling blindly
Into the refuge
Of the streets
