Lusitanian Cliffs

(for Carlita, 1933-2021)

drain the earth of her tears

Stones hold the earth and sky asunder
Streams drain the earth of her tears
Creation ages with flooding years
Emerging youth renews its wonders
Between the sun and moon
Smiling in the tides
Waves hum life’s gentle tune
Dolphins swim side by side.
