When Advancement Demands
by Korvus Korax / October 31st, 2021
When advancement demands
being not just on board
with immoral plans
but your active involvement
in malevolent schemes
as a tacit means of securing
a stable stream of jacked-up emoluments
and when simply retaining
your situation implicitly requires
your absolute blindness or silence
you'll know you've arrived
at the kind of crossroads
where you can either comply
by heading dead straight
along a less than ethical
wink-filled path of promotion
having chosen a friction-free fate
or you can risk
the inverse prison that is ostracism
by choosing to make
the self-sacrificial career-offing choice
of veering off course
by courageously raising
your opting-out voice.
