Pod People

One March day
or was it May
some years ago
or yesterday
while heavens rained
they lay and slept
beside themselves
from hell they wept.
All promises past
at distance broke
they rose as trained
for evil tasks
devil’s surgeons
double masked
magnifying lies bespoke
these new creatures,
they were all woke.
