Fearing Fear Itself

Fighting fear: Combating hate crimes, violence & xenophobia in modern America

— officer,com July 28, 2021

Summer is neutral, the
searing sun numbs the
brain and stills the tongue,
summer has no voice
to judge the nation and its
people, but when the cool
air of fall arrives cool reason
awakens and thinks again,
understands that America
is worth half as much in the
heat of the day and half as
much in the cool of night,
we see the flip sides of our
land, the frenzied chaos and
frontier violence and wonder
if a country once not afraid of
anything is now afraid of
itself.
