Untenable Freefall
by Scott Thomas Outlar / March 21st, 2021
I look to the left
and my stomach collapses
Officials in Cali
(experts in their chosen fields
no doubt)
warn passengers
on rollercoasters
not to scream
or gasp
whilst spinning round
Sounds like a perfectly
reasonable request
espoused with purely
rational intentions
You sit there
with your damn mouth shut
and enjoy their ride
shoved down your throat
without a peep
These people
lost their wits
a long time ago
but it’s our own fault
for allowing them to screw with us
past the point of absurdity
