A Shakespearean Civics Sonnet

The Constitution burns a hole in my
pocket, but what can I do? These sonnets

out to present the Articles for us
to learn through years made for sure an oath
that will preserve, protect, and defend us
in this more perfect Union. In measured growth
our rising words that constitute this thread
woven into We the People whose choice,
mirror Article # 2, if read
correctly in Section 1, confirms the voice
spoken by Faith at the ballot box through Time,
unless Treason steals Reason’s vote by crime.
