Of Trees and the Forest
by Scott Thomas Outlar / November 15th, 2020
Don’t chase
falling leaves
into screaming traffic
What are you, a child
(of God or the world)
?
There are surer suns
and shining signs
to rest on your head
as crumbs and crowns
and if a frog had wings
it wouldn’t land on its ass
every time it jumped
All the wisdom from our fathers
still drinking from plastic bottles
while we’re walking in the rain
