Like Night Follows Day

There will be blood
and two eyes for one
each with their wrongs
plucked from socket to scale
There will be many tall tales
snitched by neighbors hidden behind curtains
voiced in hushed whispers
betraying the wickedness of slander
There will be chaos
let loose through large cities
anarchists, cults, and mobs, oh my
what forked tongues and torches you bear
There will be apologists
parading propaganda about peace
a business, a church, a precinct in flames
no matter to smug arbiters of justice
