He is the Power
by Gary Wenkle Smith / August 23rd, 2020
As the crowd oo’d and ah’d
and applauded his tales of woe
and of victory over evil,
the master smiled to himself.
He is the power.
Of life with freedom
he spoke for the free
who can buy
all the tickets they desire
without paying the cost of the ride.
The blood of the young
fuels the machine
as it becomes self-aware
with the insanity of delight
over the scorched and enraged Gaia.
There is no glory in the victory
proposed and plotted
by the minions of madness
and the spawns of greed-filled lust
sweeping us beyond retreat.
