Aborted Escapism
by Scott Thomas Outlar / December 15th, 2019
I wasn’t in a rush to be born
and
I took my sweet ass time
to garner any wisdom after
but God I ran
straight toward the grave
for so damn long
and each time
you refused me
and sent me back
with deeper patience
and buried scars
but if I disappointed you
I will make it up to them
because if there’s one thing
I’ve ever been sold on
it’s promises
