Ode to an Epithet
by Brian Rihlmann / November 24th, 2019
a snowflake
may quickly melt
against flushed cheeks
against the red fire of lips
against hot breath
venom and bile
but a snowflake
is the mere form
of something else
that’s never destroyed
like matter
like energy
like life itself
and like these
it will crystallize again
embracing the tiniest speck
wrapping it
in infinite patterns
of beautiful rebellion
