The Pessimistic Guide To Wondering
by Paul Tristram / September 8th, 2019
She closed the Book
with an audible CLAP!
Placed it upon the window seat
beside herself…
then pushed it further… away
… with a frown of disgust.
‘They lied, it didn’t help,
in fact,
it’s alienated me even more’
she thought,
whilst resolving
to once again take up smoking.
‘I’m undecided whether I’m unsure
about the Future,
or simply pessimistic?
It’s not fear, unease, yes…
brick walls
where there should be
crossroads, tick.
The effort of ‘Smiling’
is absolutely atrocious… (w)retch.
And I have nothing to give
except ‘Darkness’
… oh, well,
at least I’m not sharing it’.
And congratulating
her self-centredness,
she arose, then walked swiftly
from one mental prison cell
… over to another.
