Sleep less

with the left
or with the right
pace is only half
brought to target
added speed
hand and arm
direction need
bowling’s hard
like fielding deep
it gets no easier
in dreams or sleep.

all that’s left
some that’s right
from thoughts
thought less
throughout the night
on autumn trees
remaining leaves
among the blossoms
without the bees
no summer fruit
reaped from these
