Hope, Another Word for Peace

There are 66 synonyms in the Merriam Webster
dictionary for the word Angry
There are 44 for the word Joy
If we can find the distance between those 22 words
and eclipse them with hope, bear hug them with glee
We will find that gratification is only two steps behind
our current thoughts.
If we can find the gap between those 22 words,
and nourish them with the water flowing from the eyes
of trauma
We will find that contentment is only one thought away
If we can both mend and forgive the resentments and bury the blood-laden photographs of our ex-lovers and past arguments, and look
up from our self-imposed grave,
We will find that joy is just a heart beat away on this one and only day we’ve been given.
If we can find compassion for ourselves and others,
perhaps the word war would no longer tarnish
the beautiful pages which were gifted to each of us,
For only this day.
