Breaths of Yellow and Orange
by Scott Thomas Outlar / September 23rd, 2018
I dream now
of days passed by
and the flight of time
A butterfly born anew
escaping its cocoon
to breathe of a changing season
Spreading colorful wings
that connect the distance
between past and future
Knowing that only
this eternal present moment
truly exists to bridge such a gap
Seizing the opportunity
to feel childlike again
before age takes its toll
Soaring on the autumn breeze
of a blissful memory
that swells within my heart
There was peace then
in a state of innocence
that returns with the kindling of hope
Nostalgia is its name
and I honor the energy it creates
with one last smile of happiness
