A President’s Metamorphosis: The Force

The gardener isn’t himself today,
Tending my orchard
Instead of
The neighbour’s…
Cursing,
Fit to kill
In fluent Creole.

Bent, by prayer, it is
Reasonable
To suppose
The scythe-like
Figure
Bothers
The crab apple.

No matter what I say, he won’t
Get that fax
Off his chest – and
Green tea
Can’t pacify
Parched
Lips

… Not now. Not since
The ghost
Of Papa Doc’s
Now spoken.
