For the Cause

Protestors march for peace
in Bryant Park
beating a drum
to get public attention
for a worthy cause,
not realizing
the well-funded park
is sponsored by capitalists
secure in their profits
who tolerate the event,
ragged demonstrators
unaware of the irony
asking those who fund war
to join and make peace.
