Before the flood

(lp)

In line standing
lamplight flickering
ink-spots fluttering
on leaves of autumn
on petals of spring.

In lines of grass
by footsteps pressed
shallow roots
lay asleep.

From summer weary
through winter’s repose
by topsoil held
but nourished by the soul.
