All men are mortal

(And some -- especially on television -- are more mortal than others)

Death to fear
Death to worship
Dressed in wealth
Blessed in fame
Remembrance fond
or destroyed in flame.

The Great it seems
must always grow,
though peace
might rule
were they to go.

The Rich it seems
are every day
pretending poverty
imposing taxes
for others to pay.

The Middle classed
in fantasy forlorn
scorn their lessers
yet bless the fetters
in which they were born.

Every channel, every screen
filled with police
with crime obsessed
in every scene
the Great and Rich
forever blessed
by the loyal Middle
in its quest for wealth
denying life,
for death by stealth.
