It’s a Money Thing

We interrupt this broadcast
to televise the protest

They ditched the idea of tongues and pens
and started swinging fists instead

It’s a damned odd
scene to watch
when fascists and socialists
go to war in the streets
of Chicago

Each sect properly identifies the same basic problems
yet both sides spew
their own version of the wrong answers

One idea they all seem to agree on
is that having a sovereign nation
is the only acceptable path forward
and international trade agreements
aren’t exactly free and fair
when America is the country
always getting the short end of the stick

The Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street movements
grew fangs and mutated
into fervent supporters
for the Trump and Sanders campaigns

They all know the banks are to blame
but they can’t seem to find cohesion
and work together
because they disagree
(O sad irony!)
on how to use the capital
once it has been repatriated from overseas
