Strategic Hamlet(s)

(Welcoming War in Legislative Assembly)

The clapping stops, the hall he enters
Passing every face
Taking every breath
His chest with metal shrouded
No voice, no stir needs
The plenary crowded
Chasing smiles
From every face
Tapping parliamentary tiles
With dripping death

Voting passion, sheer ignominy
One party for greed, the other, stupidity
Faking peace, while making war
Stealing billions and billions more
The action all planned years before
The graves unsealed, the end unknown
The parts to play as limbs are severed
The deafened ears and blood congealed
Concussive action from every drone

Fondly feeling every projectile
Rushing forth to play their part
Thrusting from the stage toward trenches
Crushed by rage
Pierced through the heart.

Nor is there to ask the question
Ending doubt or discontent
When Europa malice in progress dresses
Columbia’s villainy to wed,
Iron men need iron maidens
Trains of falsehood bearing
Weeping acid tears
To bleach the dead
