Goin’ Green: Know Frackin’ Way!

INDEPENDENCE: sticks, pedals,
Cymbals, heads connecting…
Sticks, pedals, cymbals, heads
Connecting…
ENERGY: left hand, right foot,
Right hand, left foot; left foot,
Right hand, right foot, left hand
Dumping endorphin in blood-
Streams, washing workaday dust
Away… Jazz drummers are real
INDEPENDENT ENERGY… getting
To SWING STATES that count…

Counting, threads connecting us
Across continents, zip codes,
Area codes and GPS commands—
Let NEWS actors crow:
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE,
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE,
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE…
Ad nauseam… but we are bound, unbound,
Trammeled, untrammeled, by lines on paper
Trillions of threads connecting us
To stunted seasons, droughts, food
Riots, climate exiles, even selfish
Settlers, simple-minded men with
Miniature hearts in gated communities
Will pay, without potable water:

Fracking,
Attacking,
Ejaculating Satin’s sperm into
Stolen land— Mother Earth—
Seeding her soil, surface waters,
Aquifers with baby Bophals and
Fukishimas, our bloodstreams, our
Livers with cancer cocktails…

Fracking,
Attacking,
Flaming faucets, exploding wells and
Earthquakes, where there were none
Before; strafing solar panels, bombing
Windmills, taking out existential geo-
Thermal threats…

Fracking,
Attacking,
Hijacking science, spinning truth
For in-bedded politicians and alligator-
Armed regulators, FOX-box foot soldiers
Guard frackers profits like profits of
Tobacco thugs, deep-water drillers, clean
Coal conmen and Franken-food experimenters…

Fracking,
Attacking,
Testing before lessons, we must be
Regulators, taking law into our own
Hands, charging each frack an assault
Declaring wells crime scenes wrapping
Yellow tape around them, along with
Offices, cars and homes of eco-terrorist
Frackers, declaring their meetings
Conspiracies, their emails evidence for
Cease and desist orders, reading: “Keep your
Mutha-frackin’ fluids out of our aquifers!”
