Fame

Its awareness comes
early now: the young
besotted with its lure:

the elevation and
permanent separation
from the mass slogging

along in muted rage.
Big business deflecting
attention from the suits

raiding the kingdom.
Nothing else matters,
then. Not justice or

morality or ethics,
certainly not fair play.
That white hot spot

burns the ethos to
a crisp, the Zeitgeist
pounded into madness
