Get Ready

For the day
when Man goes to judgment
having destroyed himself
and the planet he lived on,

and the assembly of the risen
turns as one to view this creature –
some from his own world
to bear witness against him

and others
from happier stars
out of a curious horror
to see the infamous being –

and Man stands there,
alone and naked as Adam
before the eyes of Nature’s children,
no fig leaf to cover him.
