Been Down so Long It Looks up to Me … or, Failure of Capitalist Democracy 101

Okay, just gotta let off some steam.

Too many of my liberal associates are just dead wrong — lesser of two evils is ingrained in their DNA. How? My email box is full from associates and out-there folk in the Web of Ether Sucking Sounds lambasting me for turn-coating against the Democrats! Never was one … well, maybe when I was 12 years old and liked McGovern.

About this episode

Sub-headed “Barack Obama and the failure of capitalist democracy,”  this film explores the historical role of the Democratic Party as the “graveyard of social movements,” the massive influence of corporate finance in elections, the absurd disparities of wealth in the United States, the continuity and escalation of neocon policies under Obama, the insufficiency of mere voting as a path to reform, and differing conceptions of democracy itself.

Lifting the Veil is the long overdue film that powerfully, definitively, and finally exposes the deadly 21st century hypocrisy of U.S. internal and external policies, even as it imbues the viewer with a sense of urgency and an actualized hope to bring about real systemic change while there is yet time for humanity and this planet. See this film!” — Larry Pinkney, Editorial Board Member & Columnist, Black Commentator

Original interview footage derives from Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, Michael Albert, John Stauber (PR Watch), Sharon Smith (Historian), William I. Robinson (Editor, Critical Globalization Studies), Morris Berman (Author, Dark Ages America), and famed black panther Larry Pinkney.

Non-original interviews/lectures include Michael Hudson, Paul Craig Roberts, Ted Rall, Richard Wolff, Glen Ford, Lewis Black, Glenn Greenwald, George Carlin, Gerald Cliente, Chris Hedges, John Pilger, Bernie Sanders, Sheldon Wollin and Martin Luther King.

Lifting the Veil is a major contribution to political documentary. It teaches everyone from the uninitiated to the most sophisticated the true nature of the American government… It covers the issues clearly and succinctly, from the opening narrative through to its stirring conclusion.” — Ralph Poynter Lynne Stewart Defense Committee New Abolitionist Movement

“The best political film I’ve seen to date. A must watch if you want to understand who and what Obama is about, as well as this hypocrisy they call democracy.” — Kiilu Nyasha Independent Journalist and former member of the Black Panther Party

“Noble is brilliantly pioneering the new film-making — incisive analysis, compelling sound and footage, fearless and independent reporting, and the aggregation of the best information out there into powerful, educational and free online feature films – all on a shoestring budget. His films educate and inform while building the movements needed for real change at the grassroots. Noble’s films are dedicated to democracy; they fan the flames of non-violent, people-powered revolution.” — John Stauber, Founder, PR Watch

Bold Maraduer

by richard farina

It’s hi, ho, hey,
I am the bold marauder.
And hi, ho, hey,
I am the white destroyer
.

For I will bring you silver and gold
And I will bring you treasure
And I will bring a widowing flag
And I will be your lover
And I will show you grotto and cave
And sacrificial altar
And I will show you blood on the stone
And I will be your mentor

And night will be our darling
And fear will be our name

It’s hi, ho, hey,
I am the bold marauder.
And hi, ho, hey,
I am the white destroyer
.

For I will take you out by the hand
And lead you to the hunter
And I will show you thunder and steel
And I will be your teacher
And we will dress in helmet and sword
And dip our tongues in slaughter
And we will sing a warrior’s song
And lift the praise of murder

And Christ will be our darling
And fear will be our name

It’s hi, ho, hey,
I am the bold marauder.
And hi, ho, hey,
I am the white destroyer
.

For I will sour the winds on high
And I will soil the river
And I will burn the grain in the field
And I will be your mother
And I will go to ravage and kill
And I will go to plunder
And I will take a fury to wife
And I will be your father

And death will be our darling
And fear will be our name

Here’s a comment about Nobel’s film. Again, sometimes people are truly sadly bizarre —

    ….Quote:

I was disappointed in your video, not because of the content, but, because of the hype background noise in places where it served no useful purpose. I got to about one hour and forty minutes and quit. I felt like the noise detracted from what was being said and like I was being abused. I had intend to recommend it for my discussion group but I suspect most of them would have the same reaction as I did. Why did you think that noise would contribute to the content?

…End quote — First, why would you, Wiley, not give your “discussion group” the power to choose what they would like to view or not? Secondly, you are nit-picking and I can’t wait for your effort in film making to counter your critique of Nobel’s work —

Scott Noble’s film Rise Like Lions takes the people, actions, and words from the camps and streets of Occupy Wall Street and provides a radical, compelling and inspiring account of what the movement is about. Watch it. Share it. Do it!” -Ron Jacobs, Journalist, Author The Co-Conspirator’s Tale.
