Why All of Our Efforts Won’t Stop the Attack on Iran

May 9. I read tonight a brief article by Philip Giraldi posted on the American Conservative website: “War with Iran Might Be Closer than You Think.”

“There is considerable speculation,” writes the former CIA officer, “and buzz in Washington today suggesting that the National Security Council has agreed in principle to proceed with plans to attack an Iranian al-Qods [Revolutionary Guards]-run camp that is believed to be training Iraqi militants. The camp that will be targeted is one of several located near Tehran.”

Giraldi provides details. He reports that the meeting came as “the direct result” of Hizbollah advances in Lebanon in recent days. (Recall that the U.S. State Department lists the Shiite organization Hizbollah as “terrorist” and as a tool of both Iran and Baathist Syria. In fact it is probably the country’s largest and most popular political party and has built significant ties with some Christian and Sunni groups. Hizbollah’s rapid seizure of the Muslim sections of Beirut, accomplished with little resistance, may have been deliberately provoked by the U.S.-backed quasi-government of Lebanon when the latter shut down the party’s private communications network.)

Defense Secretary Robert Gates, according to Giraldi, was the only senior official present urging delay. That suggests that the military is not enthusiastic about a widened war in Southwest Asia, but that the other regular members of the NSC (Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley as well as President Bush and Vice President Cheney) are willing to provoke just that.

They will do what they do with the solid backing of Congress, the presidential candidates, and the mainstream press which if history is our guide will for a time shape shockingly malleable public opinion. Yes, I fear that we (most of us) will be fooled again.

The Congress has passed near-unanimous resolutions against Iran, endorsing the administration’s unprecedented designation of a component of a nation’s military as a “terrorist organization.” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be on board the program. Recall how after the Democratic victory two years ago she capitulated to AIPAC by stripping from a military spending bill the requirement that Bush seek Congressional approval before attacking Iran. (That was after she’d pointedly declared that Bush-Cheney impeachment hearings were “off the table.” And after Rep. John Conyers, head of the House Judiciary Committee and sometimes maverick, bitterly disappointed those pinning their hopes on him by going along with the Democratic leadership’s line. And after the Democrats had made it clear they weren’t serious about ending the war they’d been elected to end–showing us how very well the democratic system works in this country.)

John McCain, Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton (all of whom agree that an attack on Iran is “on the table”) will publicly approve. The media will call upon the same “military analysts”/military industry consultants who have been disseminating Pentagon propaganda for pay since 2002 to explain why the attack is justified and necessary. The main talking-point has been decided: “Iran is killing American soldiers in Iraq.” Public opinion polls will show the public divided, but a majority in support of the action because, regardless of their feelings about the war in Iraq, they want to “support our troops” and after all, Iran was asking for it by interfering in Iraq and attacking us.

All the “exposure” that so many journalists and academics have tried to provide for years will have failed to prevent another illegal attack on a sovereign nation based on lies and bound to produce more outrage against the U.S. throughout the world. A cruise missile strike on an alleged training camp site won’t end there. It will be designed to provoke an Iranian response and legitimate further U.S. attacks, not only on Iran but Syria and Lebanon, probably in coordination with Israel. Some in Israel badly want the U.S. to behead all their main enemies in the region before their good friend George Bush leaves the White House. If that means regional chaos–clashes between Iranian and U.S. forces, the fall of the Maliki puppet regime in Baghdad (which actually is friendly with Tehran and says it’s playing a positive role in Iraq), the collapse of Shiite cooperation with the U.S. occupation, Iran-Iraq border clashes, U.S. forays into Iranian territory, the closing of ranks in fractious Iran against the imperialist assault on their country–so be it!

If it means renewed war in Lebanon including Israeli invasion, an Iranian shift from supporting U.S. puppet Karzai to Iran’s longtime enemy the Taliban in Afghanistan, active Syrian support for Sunni forces in Iraq, the disintegration of the fragile Sunni-“Coalition” alliance against al-Qaeda in western Iraq as the region descends into a Shiite-Sunni war–so be it! If it means the use of nuclear weapons against Iran to try to cow its leaders and people into accepting a U.S.-Israeli blueprint for the region–so be it! If it means the unthinkable in the U.S.—a return to the draft–so be it! All of this will at least have prevented the “nuclear holocaust” that the neocons, Cheney and Bush have been insisting the Iranians plan to inflict on the Jewish state unless they are stopped now. (No matter that all the U.S. intelligence agencies in their National Intelligence Estimate on Iran published late last year agreed that Iran does not now have a nuclear weapons program. And no matter that the Ahmadinejad quote about “wiping Israel off the map” has been exposed as a lie by Juan Cole and others.)

If Benjamin Netanyahu is Israeli prime minister at the time of the planned attack on Iran, a time of apocalyptic confusion might be the perfect opportunity to empty the West Bank of its Palestinians. This NSC agreement “in principle” to attack Iran is an agreement to risk all these ramifications, confident that the press and politicians will cooperate.

*****

So often in recent months I’ve started to write a column exposing some recent lie (or at least some report pertaining to Iran or Syria that strikes me as obvious neocon-generated disinformation) only to give up midway through. Not because of writer’s block, fatigue, or even the thought that “Someone else has already written this, or someone like Alex Cockburn or Justin Raimondo or Scott Ritter or Gordon Prather will in the next day or so.” It’s more a matter of despairing at how much exposure can accomplish.

A friend of mine was saying last month, “People are ‘exposured’ out. They’re “Chomskyed” out.” He was speaking about young antiwar activists mainly, but his point was that people who know what’s going on are eager to act on the knowledge. To paraphrase Marx, the point is not to expose the world, or have it further exposed to you, but to change it.

The readership of sites like Dissident Voice, Counterpunch, and Antiwar.com know the main points. They know that Dick Cheney, the most powerful vice president in history (and the most secrecy-obsessed among powerful figures in U.S. history), has made his office the hub of a cabal of neocons hell-bent of effecting “regime change” throughout Southwest Asia by the end of Bush’s second term. They know that the Office of Special Plans fabricated “intelligence” to terrify the masses and gain support for the invasion of Iraq. They know that U.S. intelligence has actually concluded that Iran has no nuclear weapons program, and that the UN’s IAEA scientists have found no evidence for one. But they also know that Cheney insists that he knows there’s one, just as the neocons such as Norman Podhoretz and Michael Ledeen know there’s one. Just as top Israeli officials know there’s one as they demand U.S. action against Iran. They know there’s a huge anti-Iran propaganda campaign underway very similar to the one that preceded the lie campaign leading up to the Iraq War now in its disastrous sixth year. They know that the U.S. is funding terrorist groups to carry out attacks in Iran. They know that the administration’s allegations about a Syrian nuclear program are highly dubious.

They know that there are conflicts between the traditional intelligence community and the neocons, and that the latter draw upon a coherent (Straussian) philosophy that justifies the “noble lie” in order to induce the foolish masses to support what the “wise”–who must conceal their real objectives–want them to support. They distrust anything the administration says about Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan…

Yes, they’re “Chomskyed out.”

Maybe we need to shift the focus of exposure a bit. From the particular to the general. From nasty individuals to nasty institutions. From the symptoms to the system.

What’s worse? Cheney and his attorney David Addington crafting a document in November 2001, bypassing routine staff review before receiving Bush’s signature, which denied “foreign terrorist” suspects in the U.S. access to any courts and allowing for their indefinite detention? (This was exposed by Barton Gellman and Jo Becker in the Washington Post last summer.) Or the failure of the elected officials in Congress to even start impeachment proceedings against Cheney and Bush?

What’s worse? John Yoo writing up his torture memos in 2002 as a Justice Department employee, as eventually exposed in the mainstream press? Or the decision of the trustees of the University of California, Berkeley to hire him as a law professor in 2003?

What’s worse? Judith Miller’s willingness to funnel disinformation to the American people through her NYT articles before and after the Iraq invasion? Or the Time’s willingness to publish them, and now those of her sometimes co-author Michael Gordon, cheerleading the coming Iran attack?

The Congress, the Justice Department, academia, and the press are all complicit in imperialist war and attacks on the Constitution. Does this mean the system isn’t working, or that it’s working all too well?

Is the system supposed to expose itself, through congressional hearings, investigative reporting, war crimes trials? Or is it, serving the small minority it’s designed to serve, supposed to simply tolerate exposure (in the name of freedom of the press) while saturating citizens with propaganda? (If the exposure ever gets widely enough disseminated, and threatens to undermine its objectives, it can always “kill the messenger”–or at least accuse the writer of undermining national security, abetting terrorism, etc.)

Voting for “antiwar” Democrats two years ago didn’t end the war. Even millions in the streets, peacefully demonstrating as the system encourages, didn’t prevent the assault on Iraq over five years ago. Now there’s no feasible mainstream-political recourse to stop an attack on Iran. And little time to mobilize mass demonstrations against it. It will come as a thief in the night, presented to the American people as a fait accompli. As the Bush-Cheney cowboys ride off into the sunset, smirkin’ and grinnin’ and slapping each other’s backs, the people will start to pay.

A character in Bertolt Brecht’s The Beggar’s Opera asks what’s worse–robbing a bank, or owning a bank? The system itself, that is to say, is the criminal product of wrongly acquired wealth, much of it obtained through imperialist war. Exposure alone, no matter how voluminous, eloquent and persuasive, will not change it.

I’m not as convinced as others that we can’t stop it this time. I think many americans have grown wary of Bush & Co. and even though they don’t think progressively, they understand the hypocricy and warmongering; I also believe that americans are catching on that paying for these wars is costing THEM at the gas pump and grocery store.

I hope articles like this one don’t create defeatism for us. We have to keep doing the anti-war work, despite it being hard, often falling on deaf ears (particularly elected Democrats’ ears), etc.

I say: show “Body Of War” to your neighbors!! Culture is where we get our message across the best.

I see this as a further backing off. It is no longer a question of “boming Iran into the stone age” or destroying supposed nuclear bomb-making facilities. Now, it’s just a single attack on some miserable little camp, probably in the middle of nowhere. The neocons are not looking for a pretext to attack Iran, they’re looking for a pretext not to!

Bear in mind also that any attack on Iran now is to the advantage of the Iranians, who would be placed in the position of the innocent victims of US agression and would enjoy the sympathy of the world. Heads, Iran wins, tails, the US loses! Basically, the neocons and their Israeli dogwaggers are hesitating as to which foot to shoot themselves in and don’t like the idea of shooting themselves in either foot!

i know of no protest that had even delayed a war let alone prevented it or stopped it once it was underway.
even so i have hepled organize protests in early ’03 in vancouver against coming US aggression against iraq.
it is possible for amers to prevent a probable US aggression against iran. what can they do? probably massive passive ressitance by 100-200mn amers might do.
that means 1mn activists stand on street corners passing out leaflets and elucidating man on street.
we have done that in vancouver . unfortunately, support for us was not that great; perhaps 30% of motorists and passersby were onside; some very strongly. i wish i had better news for us. we are still protesting that war. all one can do is to say, Not in my name. thank u

You are right to say “It will come as a thief in the night”, the same message as in the book Revelation, chapter 16:

They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

“Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.”

Then they gathered the kings together to the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The attack will take place before the criminal Bush/Cheney mob leave office in January 2009.

It will be presented as a “defensive” strike, to protect American troops in Iraq.

What the gangsters of the Bush and Olmert regime hope for is that Iran will respond and protect her sovereignty.

If she does, Bush and Cheney will unleash all sorts of hell on Iran, again to “protect” the troops, even though that will put them in harm’s way.

If Iran doesn’t respond as planned, I’m sure Cheney and his cohort in the IDF have a nasty “false-flag” event planned for some US base or some US ship in the Persian Gulf, giving that lunatic mob the excuse they’ve been preying for, a nuclear strike on Iran.

Only this time, the Israeli attack on a US ship will be much deadlier than their 1967 attack on the USS Liberty.

And like the article says, the compliant American MSM will play along and feed Americans the right amount of agitprop to get their passions inflamed, so that nuking a few hundred thousand Iranians seems patriotic.

Meanwhile, back home, we’re fed a steady diet of junk, garbage and BS on the cable TV news channels, to keep our neural synapses clogged.

“Hey, look, CNN and F** are both running specials on the love child of OJ and Britney!!!!”

Professor Leupp thank you for this article warning American people on the coming military assault on Iran. American must do whatever they can, beside it is unavoidable, including nationwide STRIKE to bring the fascist regime of George Bush and his Zionist associates down if the Zionists, the congress, are not able to impeach war criminals who have already killed millions of people around the world and have destroyed Muslim country after country and have used a phony term, Al-Qaeda which does not exist – in fact Al Qaeda is the UNITED STATES – to wage phony “war on terror” to change the middle east map in favor of an apartheid state worse than South African apartheid system to be able to steal the indigenous population’s resources and continue to rob their museums and libraries similar to what they have done in Iraq and AMERICAS to expand their influence around the world. They are willing, if it is necessary as AIPAC GIRL Hillary Clinton said, to see TOTAL OBLITERATION of Iran, at least 72 million people, to implement their plan with the active cooperation of the Zionist Jews in Israel, more than 70 percent of Israeli are waiting for a military attack on Iran, and their Zionist supporters in the US who are Pushing for a war on Iran for years now. The Zionist Jews are so thirsty for Iranian blood that are using any forum, including campaign of lies and deception, to fool more people, not only in the US but also in Europe by holding phony conferences in European cities such as Vienna and Berlin with the help of liers pose as Scholars, like Benny Morris, a holocaust denier of the Palestinian people under spurious title “Stop the Bomb” – Iran conference in May 2008 in Vienna accompanied by servant of the Zionist interest, Patrick Clawson, to spread lies through his article “The Second Holocaust will not be like the first” which says Iran in a few years from now will seek annihilation of Israel, a big lie that only FOOLS may believe. His article suggests that it is better to attack Iran before it is too late to prevent the “second holocaust.” He writes:
“Israel’s deputy defense minister, Ephraim Sneh, has suggested that Iran doesn’t even have to use the Bomb to destroy Israel. Simply, the nuclearization of Iran will so overawe and depress Israelis that they will lose hope and gradually flee emigrate, and potential foreign investors and immigrants will shy away from the mortally threatened Jewish State. These, together, will bring about the State’s demise. But my feeling is that Ahmedinejad and his allies lack the patience for such a drawn-out denouement; they seek Israel’s annihilation in the here and now, in the immediate future, in their lifetime.”

As Iraq war has shown there are enough ignorant and foolish people in the “democratic west” to believe whatever are fed with by the mass media, especially in the US as a result of Zionist influence on mind and education of the citizens from the early ages in the elementary school and on the politician who are begging for funding to launch their misinformation campaign is known as “election” to win the white house to implement the AIPAC Protocol point by point in the middle east.

We have no anti war movement in the US. We have no LEFT in the United State. Majority of the “political gathering” is influenced and manipulated by the Zionists under “left” umbrella including the Green Party. A member of the US Green Party actually participated in the May “conference” of “Stop the Bomb” to help Patrick Clawson, a petty servant of the Zionst and deputy director of the Washington Institute for near east policy, an Israeli think tank, accompanied by Benny Morris, pose as historian, a member of the GREEN PARTY from the United States, Kurdish terrorists and other Zionist Israelis to brain wash Europeans with lies, similar to Iraq case, to bring more westerners to commit war crimes against humanity. Therefore, Green Party is very much involved in spreading the Zionist misinformation campaign message.
    http://www.mideastfreedomforum.org/de/node/52

People of the region must be united and work together against imperialism, Zionism and the Zionist Jews, thirsty for more blood to be shed to save their microscopic apartheid state stolen from Palestinian through Balfour Declaration of 1917 and keep the unity until the enemy and their mercenaries, soldiers, are totally defeated to be forced out of the region with their internal enables, the fifth columnists.
American population should go on strike to stop killing of our children and citizens and prevent the destruction of our cities by their government, Zionists and their constructed terrorists group such as MOJAHEDIN who are recently brought to Iranian attention as “good guys” who have abandoned their TERRORIST PAST, therefore, should be accepted by Iranians and the “INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY” to be used against the Iranian government for regime change. This presentation of Mojahedin, a terrorist group, with a “born again” image brought in by Patrick Clawson who wants mojahedin, like other US trained and supported terrorists, like Taliban and Saudis’ Ben Laden who is DEATH, to do the preliminary work and then like Taliban to be eliminated by labeling them as terrorist so they can kill them one by one similar to the present scenario. Only the fools will believe these war criminals whom should be arrested and “brought to justices”, borrowing their own words, in order to bring peace and stability to the region and the world. Until these war criminals are allowed to kill, there is more than 1.2 million deaths in Iraq alone, and supported by their citizens nothing is going to be changed and the war is going to continue and the end definitely is not going to be in YOUR FAVAR. The United States as the biggest terrorist has been exposed long time ago and American empire has been replaced by Mongol, the most hated empire since the 13th century. You write:

“The Congress, the Justice Department, academia, and the press are all complicit in imperialist war and attacks on the Constitution. Does this mean the system isn’t working, or that it’s working all too well?”

You have forgotten to include a very important element in your list of US enablers, and that is the people of the United States who have full responsibility in genocide and war crimes committed by their government. We hold AMERICANS AND EUROPEANS responsible for assault on Iran and the region, which is on going, and we will hold them as complicit in US crimes against humanity. This is your chose: to continue life as usual and to pretend nothing has happened so you can do more the same thing, shopping in the mall, or shaking your behind and take actions to prevent more crimes against humanity.

It’s going to be stopped in the same way every other vast criminal system is stopped – by massive populist organizing. Either the American people are going to join political groups that cause systemic change in political institutions or they are going to live in a fascist state with increased global and domestic terror and poverty. The 3rd option is that America is destroyed through war (terrorist strikes are a form of war), the multinationals and attached ruling class relocate with most of their wealth intact, and they continue the imperialist project from a new geographic center. A greatly weakened America would then start a rebuilding process possibly in a democratic fashion, if for no other reason than that there are not vast taxpayer dollars for the ruling class to steal thus there’s much less resistance to democracy.

The problem, even in this “good case scenario”, is that the world is hardly more democratic than America. So if America becomes relatively democratic, similar to much of South America today, they become subject to imperialist control from sources of elite power in Europe or Asia. So the only real solution, the only lasting solution, the “final solution”, is for a global democratic movement, unifying local movements, that takes democratic control of ALL global political institutions, in particular institutions of wealthy countries. While such a movement has started, it needs to be much, much stronger to have any effect on global politics. If, say, even 10% of Americans joined such a movement, it would gain tremendous strength and momentum.

Part of the problem is that even progressive sites like this aren’t filled by people who want global democracy, which is global socialism. Most progressives in America want wealth redistribution only *within* America – to take the blood money obtained by the American ruling class from exploiting non-Americans and redistribute it to “poor” Americans, nevermind that “poor Americans” are wealthy compared to the average person in the world. That is to say, 95% or more of Americans who congratulate themselves on being “good people” are in fact simply trying to get the criminal’s money transferred to himself. Stealing second-hand.

The percentage of Americans who want global democracy is probably 2-3% tops. More would want it but are apolitical. Therefore America is politically useless on the global democratic scene, far weaker than many South American countries and probably weaker than 90% of all countries.

America’s role in the world from a progressive standpoint is to provide money and a whole lot of condescension and holier-than-thou while “helping” poor people. Meanwhile at home they “fight” the criminal class to get money transferred to themselves for “justice” and “equality” and so that apparently they can continue to “help” poor people who they have contempt for in the same way as does the criminal class itself.

The first solution is for progressive America to face the reality of what it is and to realize that nothing can be done in America until progressives reform their own morality. Sites like this prove that instead of that project progressives prefer to complain about how bad the actions of other people are.

It is not a matter of trying to stop a war from occuring. What is destined to happen will be fulfilled. God has empowered both Bush and his administration to listen to satan. They lie to fill the land with evil and falshood. They kill and commit genocides. God’s punishment is close to them. If they think Muslims are evil and they must be humiliated, wait and see. The next war, believe me, will end with a big triamph of the humble, illtreated people whose rights were ignored. My prove is the July war, aminiature divine victory of the big one which will come very soon. The Islamic Nation will be reborn and Justice in the world will be reestablished. God is just and does not tolerate injustice against His creatures let alone Humans whom he degnified over all creation in the universe.

America’s love of war and killing will bring the world down soon. They just can’t help themselves.

They started off killing the Red Indians then they moved to killing each other in the Civil War and the Wild West. Since then, they’ve ventured offshore, exported their Killing Fields so to speak.

They, like the Israelis, are a danger to themselves and everyone else. Someone should put them out of their misery!

    Excellent article.

Yes, it is the system itself that is the enemy of peace and democracy.

Sadly, we live under the thumb of a ‘corporatist Empire’ which guilefully hides behind the facade of this two-party ‘Vichy’ American government.

It is much more sophisticated than the crude facade of ‘Vichy’ French government which provided a thin patina of doubt over the militarist rule of the Nazi Empire. [A Vichy facade which the US was the first to recognize as a real government].

Now that ‘Vichy’ facade over overt fascist/corporatist militarism is a stain over our own former US democracy, and a much more guileful global ‘corporatist Empire’ is about to practice the ‘soft-power’ of tyranny at home, and ‘hard-power’ of nuclear obliteration and tow-trucks with wire rope nooses abroad.

    DavidG
your last sentence makes a lot of sense where can be carried out by a population who is determined to “put them out of their misery.” Unfortunately, the population of the US made believe that it is in their interest to cooperate in the killing of the constructed “enemy” to “spread democracy” and widen the “community” to create jobs through war and destruction to stay employed to collect benefits and expand the technology of mass destruction to have a bigger gun to protect elites investment.
The anti-war movement isn’t coherent to exert pressure necessary to change the war mentality; only the labor movement has the capacity to do so, but it doesn’t have the will. Elements in the labor also have been used in spying and regime change activities around the world and like “human rights” and “women movement” are not trusted around the world. NGOs that are represented by these organizations are widely suspected of being spy and working for the western governments for regime change.
None of the other progressive tendencies has the capacity to do anything more than lobby. Effective lobbying requires being able to deliver or withhold crucial resources, and none but labor has that capacity. Green Party has adopted “divestment from Israel” in 2005 yet has not been able to implement a damn thing on this issue.
The war machine must be defeated through economic loss which is possible only through STRIKE by labor. Only strike can stop these war criminals if American population has the will.
Our actions don’t raise public consciousness because they have been taken hostage by the mainstream media.

Once again the US lies have been exposed by its own military that the weapons they had recently found in Iraq were not made in Iran. According to a report by the LA Times correspondent Tina Susman in Baghdad: “A plan to show some alleged Iranian-supplied explosives to journalists last week in Karbala and then destroy them was cancelled after the United States realized none of them was from Iran. A U.S. military spokesman attributed the confusion to a misunderstanding that emerged after an Iraqi Army general in Karbala erroneously reported the items were of Iranian origin. When U.S. explosives experts went to investigate, they discovered were not Iranian after all.”

    http://www.payvand.com/news/08/may/1104.html

The US, which until two weeks ago had never provided any proof for its allegations, finally handed over its “evidence” of the Iranian origin of these weapons to the Iraqi government. Last week, an Iraqi delegation to Iran presented the US “evidence” to Iranian officials. According to Al-Abadi, a parliament member from the ruling United Iraqi Alliance who was on the delegation, the Iranian officials totally refuted
“training, financing and arming” militant groups in Iraq. Consequently the Iraqi government announced that there is no hard evidence against Iran.
Meanwhile, The Human Shield Movement to Iran today claimed its 10,000th pledge volunteer and warned President Bush that any attempt at military intervention against Iran would be met by a massive mobilization of human shields.
    http://www.payvand.com/news/08/may/1089.html
The human shield movement to Iran has been mobilizing for over three years now using online mechanisms such as Pledge Bank to secure volunteers willing to travel to Iran to position themselves around civilian infrastructure sites in order to try and prevent what they believe would be a catastrophic and unjustified attack. Whilst it is expected that most missiles will be directed at military installations the human shields are concerned that sites in the Iranian capital will also be targeted. Today Steven Morris from Birmingham was the 10,000th person to pledge himself as human shield volunteer.

stienster, I believe Mr. Putin expressed to the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during their meeting in October 2007, as reported via the Asian Times by Pepe Escobar, that an American attack on Iran will be viewed as an attack on Russia.
A ‘what’s good for the goose’ scenario which parallels the US/Israel guarantee.

Russia really does have nuclear weapons.

    hp:
I think you don’t know the history of Iran/Russia relationship otherwise you would have not believed what Putin said. Russia has always sided with the enemy of Iran. Don’t you see their destructive role in the legal nuclear energy program of Iran? Iranians are very disturbed with their games but at this point they do not have many options.
Russia like other countries is using Iran Card to get the most out of the west. Russia, in my opinion like Israel does not want Iran to enrich its own fuel for its nuclear program and wants Iran to be dependant on Russia for its fuel so Russia can control Iran for its own imperialistic vision. Russia in the UN ALWAYS sided with the US and Israel on the Iranian nuclear program and have positively cooperated with the west on placing sanction against Iran. Russia is building Busher reactor which should have been completed more than 7 years ago but Russia decided to play game with Iran to squeeze Iran for more money than had been agreed upon and since the start of the project, Russia has increased the fees many fold and earning more concession from Bush including silence of the media over Russian massacre of Chechen. Russia halt the shipment of the material related to the nuclear reactor using Azerbaijan, a puppet state, in late April to embarrass Iran and delay the project further. This game was repeated two weeks later, in early May, for the second time. Don’t you know that Russia agreed with Bush and Olmert to bring more sanction against Iran? Russian’s game is that first they “disagree” to fool few people and then agree hundred percent with war criminals because they are war criminals as well. Russia is interested to keep Iran weak and has benefited from the Bush and Clinton policy to pressure Iran which is beneficial to Russia. I bet you Putin wants McCain to be president to continue with the same policy. Iranians do not trust Russia.

Ah, those were the days !
Actually, just last year John(Rotten)Lydon shook hands with Dr Ron( Dr No)Paul on Jay Leno, after giving Paul a complimentary name-check in the middle of “Anarchy in the U.K.” File that under :
Things you never expected to see, but actually make perfect sense, somehow. Two iconoclasts, if ever any, not to mention survivors within their own personal millieu. Goes to show what a little faith can do. So, ye of little faith…Idealistic diatribes on the anti-War / NWO web sites wether emotionally or intellectually driven, are a necessary starting point, a gathering point for our community. We agree to disagree, and all that. But, in case you haven’t noticed, the Enemies of Mankind don’t roll over and go to sleep after a heavy petting session at the CFR. No, children, those demoniacs follow up their WORDS with DEEDS ! With ACTION ! And, then why should anyone be surprised that they get RESULTS in the real WORLD ? And, even though the words and deeds are ultimately those of their Masters from the Abyss, the Heirarchy of Evil is powerless to further their agenda in this world without warped, deluded men to do so FOR them. Fortunately for the rest of us, we( a very vast majority) have but to turn to The ONE, whatever our individual sense of the Divine may be, and pray, you heard me, PRAY for HIS (or HER, if you prefer) to intercede on our behalf. And pronto.
Don’t doubt that today, as throughout the millennia, the core of the Elite actively seek the interference of the Evil Ones in their perverted grab for power over the masses on this planet. And, yes, there is something called Karma, which we must meet, and atone for, as individuals as well
as nations. Is Karma the REAL reason for all the wars, the genocide, the starvation and disease? How old is your soul, and what have you done with it…OK ! Not what you had in mind ? Gotta have real world solutions to real world problems. Enough of this jumbo-mumbo (as my Afghani friend says it). Well, I would suggest to you it doesn’t get any more real than this. And besides, what do you think the aforementioned Dr Ron Paul, who is certainly most adept at, and experienced in dealing
first-hand with life-and-death issues in his dedication to his fellow Americans, does at the end of his day?
    He prays.

The sooner America wakes up to all the perfidies of the Zionist stranglehold on this country, the better. One only has to see how the media keeps America in the dark, all the real facts of life of our behavior in this world and of the Zionist to see exactly what’s going on. People, it’s time to connect the dots on this thing. We would never have all this going on, all the corruptions of our elected class, all the propaganda games with the media, the allowed immigration invasion, unless one to confronts the shocking truth that, yes, America is firmly in a headlock by the Globalist Zionist, his minions both in the US and internationally, and has been for quite some time.

We’re not Russians means just that.
The fact that ‘we,’ the citizens of the USA are unable/unwilling to matter in the least when it comes to the decisions of our government to invade and occupy, buy and sell or dictate policy to other nations does not mean the Russians are in the same marginal position as ‘we’ are or as Iraq or Iran are. They’re not.
Case in point is the savaging of the Jewish Russian dual citizen criminal oligarchs who proceeded to run to the safety of their crime syndicate of a country, Israel, like rats deserting a sinking ship, when Putin called them on their treasonous behavior. (we’re not the only ones who have a ‘problem’ with these so-called dual citizen Israelis who are obviously Israelis first second and third).
Russia is not sinking. On the contrary..

“Chomskyed out” is an excellent term for what is essentially a clinical diagnosis. Namely, the completely irrational belief that merely “exposing” this or that official lie or covert program (0r even the entire panoply of them) will have any impact on a U.S. foreign policy committed to military aggression as a first resort.

Unfortunately, the above contains only a single phrase which indicates that Leupp has given any thought as to what is required to combat, as opposed to merely critique the elite agenda, and it is precisely that which has massively failed: namely the “mobiliz(ation) of mass demonstrations.” As Leupp himself notes, the “millions in the streets, peacefully demonstrating as the system encourages, didn’t prevent the assault on Iraq over five years ago.”

While he bemoans the comatose state of the movement now he seems oblivious to a good part of the explanation for it which is the movement leadership having recommended tactics-street protest and supporting Democratic candidates-which could and should have been predicted in advance to fail. Hence the widespread disillusionment and apathy.

Leupp is surely right that we are not now in a position to do anything about U.S. widening the score of its aggression into Iran. If we don’t begin focussing on the question of what the movement can do to rebuild its effectiveness, it is a sure bet that a Bush, and probably Obama administration will continue on its current catastrophic course.

I would hope that Mr. Leupp turn his formidable powers of analysis to the question of what is to be done to combat and not merely critique the elite agenda.

John Halle you’re so right. I think most writers of politics succeed in presenting a text that is not about themselves, and that’s just success enough in these times. The blank content can be filled from one end of the political spectrum to the other. But the point is to change the world, not be able to remove yourself from a piece of writing.

I started blinking my headlights when overtaking and passing long-haul truckers in the daytime two months ago, because I read somewhere that it was a “Support the Union ” signal. And I tried for several months last year to convince the military obituary department of the Los Angeles Times to include in their obits SOMEthing about whether the deceased had spoken to his/her family about opposition to the Iraq War or had belonged to an organization opposing the war. I approached five of my adjacent neighbors last year with literature about Black Agenda Report, and intended to do a journalistic piece about that experience, but realized journalists have to Know Things in order to get people to be forthcoming. And just last week, I blew a fuse with “my” primary care physician before noticing he’d left the door open, and I passed through a very quiet waiting room of mainly more elderly and ill people than myself on the way out.

Considering the manifest failures of associative endeavors to accomplish anything, I feel almost proud of these totally individualistic efforts and that one loss of temper (among many). And what’s really galling is the realization that — just like there’s a radical story under EVERYthing, which can be discovered, there’s radical potential all around us all the time. MORE radical potential than ever before in many, many years.

We have reached a point where simply ‘exposing’ anything is not enough. I’ve listened to Mr. Nader talk in the past about this being why he runs for President. Because once he could accomplish good by simply exposing what was wrong. From that, the press and the machinery of a democratic government would tackle the problem. That stopped being true, probably back in the nineties somewhere. “Exposing” a problem is no longer enough, as the various agencies of the society no longer work to solve problems that are ‘exposed’.

We’ve all been ‘exposed’ to plenty. We all know what’s going on. Now its time do something. A much better title for the piece would have been. “Why doing the same things we’ve been doing before won’t stop the attack on Iran.”

Majority of people here believe that ENOUGH is ENOUGH and we must do something. Then why don’t we arrange nationwide labor (working people) strike to bring the axis of evil, US – Israel – Britain down once and for all. Financial loss is the only weapon we have and the most powerful. If we stop working and demand the US and Britain forces get out of the Middle East including Iraq what are we going to lose? I’m sure nothing but our CHAINs. This can be done through Internet. The strike should be arranged in Britain who started the evil empire 500 years ago and their extension the United States. Please hurry up. We have to stop these war criminals at once and put them out of their misery with the same method these criminals have used to take out their puppet at one time who turned enemy at later time, SADDAM. They must get the same medicine as they have given to so many people for the last 500 years. If we don’t bring them down they will kill us all. The condition of the world shows it all. There is nothing but HUNGER and WAR. We need different arrangement other than the current
world system which is nothing but MODERN SLAVERY. Down with the evil empire.

i hope that educating people is not a failure. i’m somewhat disappointed ab. labeling education “bitching”, etc.
education along with accurate/adequate information is important.
in this connection, may be all wars start with words. thus, in order to have fewer wars; less child molesting, raping, lying , etc., perforce, we must begin the trek with the words.
“exposing wrongs is not enough” some say. but exposing (elucidating a sit’n) is more than of zero value. it has some value.
slavery had been abolished. words were spoken against it
we now want better governance. just saying this for the first time ever in such numbers (what, 5mn, 2mn in US) is a resounding success
for the first time in US history a man is running for presidency who is going to represent working class.
and nader might just get 5-10% od the votes. what an awsome begining. thank u

I never ceased to be amazed at these websites! I’ve heard some good ideas from time to time for taking back our country and our freedom. But the one thing I’ve never seen, the one vitally necessary thing, is for someone to say: “You are right about that, so let’s plan to gather with others who agree on this course of action as soon as possible and begin taking it to the streets! The game is on–no more discussion–it’s time to move! Where should we meet?”
The rulers know that isn’t going to happen. They can afford to let us bitch until doomsday (literally!) Talk is cheap. I’m guilty and so are you. So until we’re all ready to begin agreeing and then acting on a plan, nothing changes. The closest we ever get to a concerted effort is voting for president. You’d think they would die from laughter…

Thank you for your attention. Labor Strike must be organized by labor movement, anti war movement and other social and political organization nationwide as soon as possible. These criminals know that they have taken the world population hostage through economic arrangements, misinformation, terrorism, support of individuals with no memory of their own history and culture through trash entertainment and “education” at elite schools in the west to establish the dominant culture as “universal”, to bring different groups under the same umbrella to use their language skills to overthrow governments around the world to strengthen GLOBALIZATION which is nothing but hegemony of elites over lives of other people in the world to divide the world population into two groups: elite group as the “producer” and the rest of us as consumers if people can afford it. This is not a religious war. Masonic or not, everyone must know the fight is for expansion of economic power and control of resources through map change and therefore, to have cultural and political advantages. To have hegemony over the world population they are willing to use any means possible to bring the world under control after they obliterate those who resist modern slavery system.

We ended the War on Terror a few days ago by declaring we are not terrified. Up next is instituting world peace by declaring we are not at war. My allegiance is owed to a moral goodness, not a country built on killing Native Americans, Mexicans, blacks and now Muslims. The jig is up America, stop killing people.

What we need is one global government, a new world order and we need to start and implement one before “they” [the current power-elite] beat us to it.

Next week, we’re declaring world peace. Let it be known, if you’re killing human beings, it’s not for us.

    Baboo:
Thank you very much for your suggestion, a consumer strike focused against companies is a good one. We can target COFFEE HOUSES and other companies that people think is good as target to send a message that the world is not going to accept a corrupt system based on TERROR anymore and demand the war criminals who are sitting in certain capitals to be removed from power and brought to justice.
Other people have raised the same concern about labor strike and one has given this suggestion:

In light of the terrible economic situation in the US, and the fact that many employees may be salaried, a labor strike may not go down too well.
Something that worked well, from a social movement study course I took, was peaceful ‘anarchy’. On a given day/date, city, many, many people went to Best Buys (this is one of the examples, Home Depot and other stores could be targeted), dressed in a dark blue T-Shirt and Tan shorts and just hung around for hours. This caused a great deal of confusion as each time a customer wanted help, they would go to one of these ‘protestors’ , and find that they were just another customer. The store was in virtual lockdown, yet they could not ask these people to leave simply for wearing dark blue shirts and shorts!
The same could be done with Home Depot, OSH and other places.
With the help from the internet, this can be done worldwide. Even 3-4 hour window is good, a day that is ripe for shopping.

Please give your suggestions and I am looking forward to see your input as soon as possible.

Here is the real deal. YOU may be done fighting, and declaring peace all you want . . . but that doesn’t mean your enemy is going to. So while you are declaring peace, they are running over you with a tank.

We are humans. We kill each other. We kill other things. This is what we do, better to just get used to it. Trying to save the world will slowly destroy you.
