Is Hamas Saving More Jewish lives than Olmert?

Hamas’s second in command, Mahmoud al Zahar, has saved more Jewish lives in his short tenure as Palestinian Foreign Minister, than Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. And how has he been rewarded?

Yesterday his son, Hussam al Zahar, was shot dead while defending a civilian enclave in the Palestinian territory by a roving band of Israeli troops. The young man was not connected to any terrorist action. He is simply got in the way of an Israeli bullet and now he’s dead. End of story.

18 other Palestinian men were killed in the attack which has been condemned by foreign leaders around the world. But not in the United States where such barbarity is considered laudable.

Even American stooge, Mahmoud Abbas, blasted the raid saying, “What happened today is a massacre, a slaughter against the Palestinian people. Our people cannot keep silent over these massacres.”

There are photos in Aljazeera of the elder al Zahar offering a final prayer over the corpse of his dead son. It is very sad. This is his second son to be killed by the Israelis. His eldest son was killed in a bombing raid two years ago that was aimed at him. Al Zahar still has not recovered.

As part of the democratically-elected government of the Palestinian people, al Zahar supported Hamas suspension of all suicide bombings within Israel.

How many Jewish lives have been saved by the directive?

At the same time, Israel’s vain and stupid Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert — whose public approval is a paltry 4% — is responsible for the deaths of 113 Israeli soldiers by his bloody and pointless invasion of Lebanon a year ago.

Consider the paradox: Hamas leaders are now saving more Jewish lives than Israel’s own Prime Minister. What bitter irony.

No one in the western media even has the courage to talk about the fact that Hamas was instrumental in stopping the attacks on Israeli civilians. Instead, the rationale for killing Palestinians has simply shifted to the random rocket attacks launched by Gaza militants who are beyond Hamas control. It is just an excuse to continue the sanctions which have left Palestinian women and children without sufficient food, water, medical supplies or energy. The people of Gaza are paying a heavy price for being Palestinian; for merely occupying the land which which every nation in the world has confirmed belongs to the Palestinian people. Al Zahar’s son was killed defending that land.

The Israeli raid was ordered by rejectionist Defense Minister, Ehud Barak, the former Prime Minister who sabotaged the Camp David negotiations with Yasser Arafat and then used his operatives in the US media to craft a narrative that Israel had made a “generous offer” to the Palestinian leadership. It was all rubbish. There were never even any maps, let alone any real effort to make concessions on borders, Jerusalem, air space, water, checkpoints etc. Now, Barak is back doing what he does best: inciting Palestinians so that more land can be settled. It’s a tedious and bloody cycle.

The Israeli raid was intended to send a message to Washington. Annapolis is over. The peace talks are over. The grand performance for the media is over. Now it’s back to business.

Its only been a matter of days since Bush left Israel and already the provocations have resumed. Israeli leaders must find it quite gratifying to make the President of the United States look like a laughingstock to the rest of the world. Bush is a fool, but we don’t need Israel to point it out.

A week ago Bush visited Yad Veshem, Israel’s Holocaust memorial, where he said:

“I wish as many people as possible would come to this place. It is a sobering reminder that evil exists and a call that when exists we must resist it.”

Bush only cares about the suffering of Jews, not Palestinians. The policy is counterproductive and hypocritical.

The leaders of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas have been at war since street battles broke out in Gaza six months ago. But they are in agreement about the sudden outbreak of violence following Bush’s trip. Hamas spokesman Taher Nunu summed it up like this, “President Bush gave the green light for the new aggression and other such terrorism.”

Indeed. It appears that the operations had already been planned. As soon as Bush left Israel, the hostilities began.

Al Zahar said, “We believe that this Zionist escalation is the result of Bush’s visit and a natural result of the cover supplied by Bush to the Israeli occupation authorities to go forward in their aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. We will retaliate in the way they understand.”

115 Palestinians have been killed by the IDF since the end of the Bush’s Annapolis Peace Conference.

Here’s the video by Aljazeera of the Israeli attack on the Gaza suburb that killed al Zahar’s son. It’s nothing like the garbage produced by western media.

And yet, there are vast numbers of Americans who still wonder “why they hate us.”

Our unflinching support for the terrorist regime in Israel–which garners only 4% of Israeli citizens’ support; our parade of “peace” partners from the murderous Ariel Sharon to the duplicitous Ehud Barak to the incompetent Ehud Olmert; our support of targeted assassinations of Palestinian leaders and rampaging violence against civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon–does not seem to register on the benighted American citizenry, now besotted with the absurdities of telefared, fixed elections.

You “Chosen People,” get back to your roots! Read the work of Solomon on caring for the poor, the orphaned. Read Jeremiah on an Israel that had lost its way and wrought the wrath of Jehovah. You Christian Fundamentalist Zionists–wake and see that you have allied yourselves with the Sanhedrin that crucified Christ and that Christ today is a Palestinian, an Iraqi, and all the innocents persecuted by all the Herods in Washington, London and Tel Aviv around this wounded globe.

The cup of truth is bitter to the taste, but it can purge us of the poisons that keep us bound in ignorance and hatred.

Look how the media “play” us. A phony “peace process” conference in Annapolis, followed quickly by President Monkey’s appearance in Israel, full of more chimp-mutterings. But what’s really afoot? Green-lighting “incursions,” obviously. And stirring the waters against Iran so hand-holding despots in the Gulf will spend $20 billion to buy our weapons of mass destruction.

The war-economy we have maintained since World War II demands constant sacrifice–mostly of others’ children. God does not send angels to intervene to stay mad Abraham’s hand against his own son. Only we can intervene so Semite does not murder Semite. The time of angelic interventions is long past; only an informed citizenry can stay the hands of madness.

Let us praise the truth-seekers and the truth-tellers who point us towards suffering, and the alleviation of such as we search for the maning of humanity.

“.. random rocket attacks launched by Gaza militants who are beyond Hamas control…”

    Er not exactly.
Since this summer’s miniature civil war, the Hamas control the Gaza Strip, period.

It’s like a big, fanatically religious mafia.

Anyone outside of Hamas under arms, rocketing or mortaring, or sniping at Israel has to have their sanction first…and they do.

Any independent tunnel running smuggling operations has to cut them in or pay them off…and they do.

And Gaza right now, isn’t exactly a very nice place to happen to be Christian either.

    Gaza’s Christian population wanes

    By Erica Silverman
    January 15, 2008

“…Life has become increasingly difficult for Christians in Gaza since Hamas seized control of the coastal strip in June…The Baptist community, self-described as evangelical, has been a principal target of the extremists because of its missionary work, which has been halted.

“Christians get killed here, let alone a Muslim who converted,” said Ashraf, 36, from Gaza City, who declined to provide his last name. “I stopped going to church even before the coup….”

A few more snippets from the article Jaime referenced:

“Most Christians do not hold Hamas directly responsible, but they are calling for increased protection and accountability.”

“”The Hamas leadership, on the political level, wants to live side by side with the Christian community”

“Father Artymos, originally from Greece, leads the St. Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church, founded 1,600 years ago in Gaza’s old city. Christians and Muslims live peacefully together in Gaza, said Father Artymos, but conversions and the construction of new churches are prohibited.”

“The Rev. Manuel Musallan of the Latin Church in Gaza City blamed Israel for the woes of his tiny Catholic community, which also runs a school with 1,200 students, many of them Muslims.

“The embargo is inhumane. It attacks the innocent here — children, the sick and the elderly,” he said. “If Gaza is to be prepared for peace, this is not the way.””

“Attacks against Christians have been rare in Gaza”

“Hamas has increased security in Christian neighborhoods and near churches. “There are groups in Gaza, only a few, that share an al Qaeda ideology, and we will stop them,” said Mr. Al-Ghusain, the Interior Ministry spokesman.”

btw, here’s the Olmert quote on the ‘End of Israel’:

If the two-state solution collapses, and we face a South African-style struggle for equal voting rights, then the State of Israel is finished.

But, then that’s to be expected from an country where more streets are named after a man who makes Oswald Mosley look like a country gentleman than anyone else?

So who is managing to bring in rockets and launchers into beseiged Gaza? Does there happen to be a weapons factory in Gaza? How is it that no one asks this question when not even food, medication or basic equipment to save a child’s life can be brought in to help the Palestinians? Israel can only survive whilst there is chaos, deception, confusion and mass conflict. Who gains from rocket attacks but the terrorist leaders of Israel? You create a situation and use it to attack innocent people. It is the same deception and terrorist tactics used again and again by the UK, US and Israeli psychotic, immature and immoral governments.

Oh, the missiles and rockets and mortar bombs and other weapons are smuggled into Gaza by Israelis. It’s a black ops cointelpro- type operation. They want everyone else to think that the Gazans are attacking Israel because they don’t want peace. What a foolish notion!

Here’s some important commentary regarding American Zionism from the late Edward Said. Here’s the real reason why the left is in shambles. I just stumbled onto these article via Google and after reading the analysis from the late Edward Said there is NO excuse why the left has not properly analyzed the current state of affairs in the U.S. especially regarding Israel and the current war in Iraq. Essentially racism much more so than “imperialism” and “capitalism” remains the root of Amerikkka’s problems:

    American Zionism 1

    American Zionism 2

    American Zionism 3

So jaime, you’re saying that there’s no alternative explanation to that of Israel supplying the rockets? Interesting admission from a zio.

  9. jaime said on January 21st, 2008 at 3:49pm #

    Not admitting…joking.

I had a bet going with my co-worker that the readers of DV would take what I said seriously and weren’t smart enough to realize it was a gag.

I should have bet more money.

Oh, Maha, don’t get into a slanging match with jaime. It’s a waste of time. His intellectual and ethical milieu is perfectly summed up by his constant reference to articles in the Moonie, loony Washington Times, penned by Erica Silverman, undoubtedly a disinterested champion of The Truth. The judeofascists are visceral racists. They care not a whit how many Palestinians are slaughtered. Palestinians are all, by definition, ‘terrorwists’. That’s when they are not ‘two-legged animals’, ‘human dust’, ‘lice’, ‘drugged cockroaches’ etc. The Ziofascist lexicon of racial hatred is indeed voluminous. I put it down to a number of causes. The insanity of the Jewish claim to Divine status no doubt impresses on some that they can get away with anything. The desire for revenge for the Judeocide no doubt motivates others, and the Palestinians are the patsies, the Germans being too remote and powerful. Contempt for the opinions of the rest of the world, that did nothing to rescue the Jews (or the Gypsies for that matter) is there also, I feel. Naturally all these, plus the ineradicable racism of the colonial invader, particularly when the ‘natives’ resist their dispossession, contribute to a witches’ brew of intense race hatred and murderousness. We must remember of course that many Israelis are not racist and fascist, although the ruling Israeli state apparatus is deeply evil, dangerous and vicious. Furthermore it is not beyond the realms of possibility that one day Israel will abjure its racism, aggression and violence and seek to live in peace with its neighbours, rather than dominate, oppress and kill them. The alternative is ceaseless escalating war, and the destruction of Israel, amidst dreadful destruction and loss of life. Unfortunately, when one considers the lunacy and fanaticism of the judeofascist hardcore, one sometimes gets the impression they desire just such an outcome and, along with the End Times insanities of the ‘Christian Zionists’, we appear at times to be facing a deliberately engineered Armageddon.

This is without a doubt the most inaccurate piece of propaganda (or something else) that I have ever seen. The author failed to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
When the Israelis killed Mahmoud Zahar’s son and several other Hamas TERRORISTS, they were frequenting a building used to launch rockets into Israel (particularly the town of Sderot) and harm civilians. The Israelis killed terrorists who deserved to die.
The assertion that Zahar has prevented attacks on Israelis is ridiculous. Hamas has launched as many rocket attacks as they could or allowed other TERRORIST groups to do so. The only reason why Hamas hasn’t killed more Israeli civilians is not a lack of effort but because Israel built the separation barrier across much of the West Bank to keep suicide bombers and other TERRORISTS out.
Mr Whitney claimed that Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006 for no reason. Did he forget that Hezbollah TERRORISTS entered Israeli territory, killed several Israeli soldiers, and kidnapped two more (who are still missing)? The reason why many Lebanese civilians were killed is that Hezbollah has a practice of placing its weapons near schools, neighborhoods, and other populated areas, so civilians become casualties when Israel attacks military targets. Do not think for a moment that Hezbollah, Hamas, or the Islamic Jihad care one iota for the suffering of the Arab/Palestinian people.
I suggest that Mr Whitney get his facts straight before he publishes some more of this nonsense. He is a disgrace to this website and everyone who calls himself a journalist.

“Picturetime” makes many assertions in his/her above post and provides a totally inaccurate account of historical events, but provides no evidence of any kind to support the assertions or the factually inaccurate “history.” Despite this, he/she is actually so audacious and obtuse as to chastise Mr. Whitney for allegedly not getting “his facts straight” and for writing “inaccurate propaganda” (a phrase that perfectly describes “Picturetime’s” own uninformed post). “Picturetime” calls Mr. Whitney a “disgrace” to journalism, but his/her own attempt to refute Whitney is such an inept and uninformed piece of Zionist propaganda that it might also be considered a “disgrace” (even as a piece of pure Zionist propaganda it fails utterly). Perhaps it is “Picturetime,” not Whitney, who needs to get his/her “facts straight” and stop posting “nonsense”? Picturetime should be–but probably is not–embarassed by his/her own transparent ineptitude.
