Is a Worldwide Famine in the Works?

Was is just seven years ago that the new millennium dawned? I remember all the talk about how this new era would give us a chance to escape from all the follies of the 20th century. Well, it didn’t take long to realize that all the old follies were still with us, waiting to be repeated.

World hunger is one of them. The last century was dotted with mass famines, all of them man made. Surely the UN and the leading nations of the world would not let that sorry record repeat itself?

It appears, however, that they will. The UN is doing its part to help prevent famines, but the UN can only do what the leading nations, represented on the Security Council will allow it to do. We must remember that any criticism of the UN is in reality a criticism of the five permanent members of the SC.

At any rate, the UN has warned us that a famine of Biblical proportions may be on the way.

Tuesday’s New York Times has the story. “World Food Supply is Shrinking, U.N. Agency Warns,” by Elisabeth Rosenthal (12-18-07). Here is the gist of it. Jacques Diouf, who runs the UN Food and Agriculture organization has stated that there “is a very serious risk that fewer people will be able to get food” in the coming years. That doesn’t sound very good at all. Rosenthal, reporting from Rome, says his reason for announcing this is that because of “an ‘unforeseen [?] and unprecedented’ shift, the world food supply is dwindling rapidly and food prices are soaring [good old supply and demand] to historic levels.”

There appears to be only 12 weeks worth of wheat and 8 of corn left in storage (based on world wide consumption levels.) to feed the world in case of an emergency. One reason for this is that it is more profitable to grow non food crops than food crops. There has been “a shift away from farming for human consumption to crops for biofuels and cattle feed” [more McDonald’s burgers for the First World obese]. And, don’t overlook the fact that “the early effects of global warming have decreased crop yields in some crucial places.”

The leader of the World Food Program, Josette Sheeran, is quoted as saying, “We’re concerned that we are facing the perfect storm for the world’s hungry.” Other experts are equally glum. A major, crop disease or climate change in an important area would put the hungry in “a risky situation.” This has already happened in Australia (lack of rain) and In Ukraine (also climate change) with less food being produced.

The UN’s Diouf thinks the advanced countries will have to come up with new ideas to reflect the new economic and environmental realities. New ideas are in the works, but they may be based on putting people before profits. When has the US done that lately?

But not to worry here in the USA. We will be able to ride it out. Ms. Sheeran noted that, “In the U.S., Australia and Europe, there’s a very substantial capacity to adapt to the effects on food — with money, technology, research and development. In the developing world, there isn’t.” It’s comforting to know that if disaster strikes it will be the poor of the Third World who die off while we will continue to pollute the atmosphere, destroy the climate, and have all the junk food we need to see us through.

    Yup!

The big question is; “Is it being engineered?”

I just “visited’ Riggins website and was treated to some “Israeli Thought” by Reuven Kaminer about “Israel not standing alone” against the Iranian threat.

All of it under the “convoluted” heading of “Marxist Thought.”

That is the question is it being engineered by those people high on the hill? Wacky ideas seem to be just one after another or is it that we are starting to see them for what they are? Let’s just say reason has little to do with the problems we face.

    Let us all make sure that; “Israel will not have to stand alone” because Ron Jacobs, an astute leftist political commentator has sincerely asserted;

“there is no doubt that most of the US political establishment supports Israeli expansion… ”

Does the expansion of Greater Israel go from the Nile to the Euphrates?

In Argentina and Chile the avenging fascist juntas made the problematic leftist opposition just disappear – los desaparecedos.

I think that “project censored ” at Sonoma State passionately covered this terrifying story of depraved humanity.

I’m personally convinced that the global elite intends to engineer a massive de-population. By diverting huge amounts of grain from human consumption and to production of ethanol for US SUVs, they have engineered a great rise in food prices. Despite dire warnings of the consequences for the poor, Bush has announced the program will be expanded, indifferent to the sufferings of others, like all psychopaths. So hunger slowly spreads, death by debility, chronic malnourishment and preventable disease increases, and then you may be lucky enough to be visited by other of the Horsemen. Perhaps the US, or Israel, or some other Western country will fancy your mineral riches, as in the Congo, and finance and arm vicious militias that will run amuk and kill millions. Or you may be visited by the full glorious might of Western Civilization itself, as the Iraqis and Lebanese have been lucky enough to have been, and high explosives, cluster bomblets, white phosphorus and depleted uranium will blow you and your children to smithereens. I believe the final cleansing will be affected by disease. AIDS has proved effective, but slow, and I imagine a genetically engineered mass killer will emerge from Fort Dedrick or some similar hell-hole some time in the near future, to the consternation of all. I imagine once they have perfected the techniques, if such are possible, of making the disease ethnically specific, work on which we know has been proceeding, it will be merely a matter of time. I simply believe, from all I’ve witnessed and experienced and from my reading of history, that there exists a type of psychopath, utterly malevolent and utterly inimicable to other creatures, which dominates business, its dark twin organised crime and their hand-servant, politics. They may be malign, but they are not stupid. They see the world being polluted to ecological collapse, and they see radical population decrease not only solving that problem, but removing the dreaded spectre of revolt by the great unwashed, once and for all.

Let’s look at the facts. There is 7 to 10 years to stop putting CO 2 into the atmosphere to keep the levels below what will mean we can’t stop it. If that happens well in ten years maybe twenty it’s not what you want it’s what you need. Oh and there is that little problem of what happens to the way we all think once we know it is to late to stop. Then the reality of the problem droughts, flooding, heat and on and on. Right now Durham, NC has about 40 day’s of water 210,000 people. Atlanta 3 months 5 million. Austrian is already in big trouble drought. The India Ocean to there East a tad bit warm and how much more CO 2 can it take in not much. China I think most of you know the pollution in that country. In some areas the water is polluted down to 300 meters ground water bad sign. So stop buying stuff before it’s to late. As we can all see what needs to be done is not happening so we the people stop buying stuff. Yes some people will lose jobs that’s where the working together part comes in. It’s a tuff one but somehow I think we will all feel better if we could do this. Of course there will be people who still want to drive SUV’s and build those 90,000 Sq foot houses. Ok how about we give them the entire State of Colorado it’s all yours and the rest of us try and turn this thing around. I still think it’s a good idea.

Well as far as drought and famines, just search out weather modification. There is a bill in the House and Senate each that will allow more “experimentation” with shooting chemicals into the clouds however, the Mainstream news media hasn’t mentioned it to the public.
Texas has been doing weather modification for years. However, our government won’t take responsibility for agriculture loss this may cause nor tell you who or what state is being modified.

A few years ago, some of the countries complained to the WTO that American farmers were unduly subsidized for their corn and won their complaint through the WTO. The USA agreed to lower corn subsidys and came up with the plan to use the corn in ethanol. Farmers are not receiving any corn subsidies and now these same countries have realized there’s a global shortage of grains, mostly corn.

Its not an easy solution, but its one that needs looking at.
