The amusing thing about this absurdly ham-fisted "coup", if it was one, is that it "failed". In other words, the old cold war argument that the "invincible" American Empire can make and break governments all over the world at will, even if the populations concerned are opposed to the change, has gone down the toilet. Equally, if the coup in Honduras, which certainly was one, was manipulated from Washington, why did the "coup" in Ecuador fail? And, most amusing of all, how come the brothers Castro are still sitting pretty in Havana 20 years after the fall of the Soviet Union? If the Empire is invincible, why has it not overthrown them? Thus, there can be no more talk of Yugoslavia, for example, being broken up by the US, notwithstanding the ardent desire of 99.9% its population to remain united and/or remain communist. Ditto for the Soviet Union. And the same goes for all the nonsense about "rigged" elections. When Uribe was elected in Colombia, we were forever being told that he had been "installed" in power by the US. But if the US could install its stooge in Colombia (or in Georgia!), how come it didn't do so in Venezuela? Or in Iran, for that matter! Compartmentalisation: treat each subject seperately and make mutually contradictory arguments in regard to each one, but never bring them together!
