Haiti has disappeared off the screen in the UK. Is it the same in the US?

This is Mark Weisbrot on Clinton apologising. Better late than never as they say.

Bill Clinton's Apology and Risks to Earthquake Victims

Thanks, Pancho,

I plan on having the third and final book review article up in a week or so.

Haiti is a classic case of the old adage, "When all you have is a hammer, all your problems begin to look like nails." US foreign policy has devolved into various bellicose forms of hegemonic conquering as described in Naomi Klein's book, the Shock Doctrine. This policy is not only counterproductive and outmoded, it is becoming just another chapter in the annals of failed empires throughout history.

On February 24, Latin America opened a new hemispheric organization that includes all states EXCEPT the US and Canada. La Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños will usher in a new policy of interaction between the various states that will provide for growth and prosperity without the jackboot of oppression from American power.

Thank you for this interview about Disaster Capitalism and Haiti. A compadre of mine at OpEdNews, John Little, has just published his second of three articles on The Shock Doctrine, and I would like to link DV readers to it here:

http://www.opednews.com/articles/Naomi-Klein-s-Shock-Doctri-by-John-Little-100305-544.html

There are a couple of incorrect tense usages in the first three paras - John has lived in Mexico, Switzerland, and France - but otherwise the article in my opinion is a truly remarkable partial summary of Naomi Klein's masterpiece.
