EU: Goods made at Jewish settlements are not Israeli

Israeli goods made in the West Bank will not benefit from trade privileges

The European Court of Justice has ruled that Israeli goods made in Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank cannot be considered Israeli.

This means goods made by Israelis or Jews in the West Bank cannot benefit from a trade deal giving Israel preferential access to EU markets.

EU import duties on Israeli goods from the settlements may now be imposed, making them less competitive.

Jewish settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law.

The EU has agreements with both Israel and the Palestinians that end customs duties.

Israeli companies based around settlements manufacture a host of products including confectionery, wine, cosmetics and computer equipment.

Some of the companies employ Palestinian workers, who are restricted from working in Israel.

Palestinians have long argued that Israeli goods made in settlements should not receive trade privileges, as settlements are not part of Israel.

Pro-Palestinian campaigners have also regularly protested that European supermarkets stock goods with Israeli labels on farm products from the West Bank.

We as Israelis were brought up to believe that the Palestinians just left, because they were advised to leave by the Arab countries. We didn’t know about legislation to stop them from coming back, we didn’t even know that every Palestinian village had been wiped out (more than 600 of them). We were indoctrinated into a denial of the Palestinian Cause. We were not aware of it”. ……

Apart from the racist policies displayed against the Palestinians, immigrants are now being targeted. An outfit (with a name that will make Mulga laugh out loud) is patrolling the streets looking for suitable candidates for deportation.

While he demanded that Palestinian must recognize the Zionist occupation as a “Jewish State” – he blasted the report prepared by a UN team headed by a fellow Jew, the South African Judge, Goldstone, calling it: “The distorted report, written by this distorted committee undermines Israel’s right to defend itself. The report encourages terrorism and threatens peace. Israel will not take risks for peace if it cannot defend itself.”

Then the cunning Zionist added: “For 62 years, the Palestinians have been saying ‘No’ to the Jewish state. I am once again calling upon our Palestinian neighbors; say ‘Yes’ to the the Jewish state. Without recognition of Israel as the state of the Jews we shall not be able to attain peace.”

Felicia Langer, a distinguished principled Israeli lawyer, stated: “With ny own eyes, I have seen marks of torture on the faces and bodies of suspects and accused persons. I say it here and now and challenge anyone to contradict it.”

In an investigative report published in The Sunday Times, June 19, 1977, it was reported: ” Torture of Arab prisoners is so widespread and systematic that it cannot be dismissed as rogue cops “exceeding orders”. It appears to be sanctioned as deliberate policy.”

Furthermore, torture is only one of the many Israeli violations of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which are considered as war crimes, by international law. Yet, evidently, Israel is above international law.
