Because he talks nice and pretty; uses language that is soothing to liberals? In foreign policy matters he is falling right in line with post-World War II American policy script. Any differences in foreign policy/intelligentsia changes in Washington DC, are normative, not structural. Spare me the pie in the sky bit, it's ridiculous analysis. Why is it that Obama “means well”? That's all US is doing now. Its telos remains unchanged as evidenced by its 170, or is it by now 180?, wars, invasions, and skirmishes and not including thousands of cia terrorist acts. Europeans want no more war. With two of Europe's three 20th century wars caused by American bungling, US warmongering simply scares them away from US policies.
