All of this sounds so much like “peace and love, man, peace and love.” Yes, “we” really need the Democrats. Like hell we do!

I would only add to your list that war criminal Obama is continuing the USA Patriot Act (which shreds the US Constitution), he’s continuing torture, rendition, illegal spying, mountain top removal, and off shore oil drilling off both East and West coasts (granted oil drilling off the West coast is not new: see Santa Barbara). Other people can add things I’ve not included.

And then get a load of this part from the article: “Democrats are exactly what we need. Peace and love, man, peace and love.” Sigh. What drugs are these people on? Jesus fuking christ, how pathetic. They somehow see the Dem trash in congress standing for peace and love? I swear, people are getting dumber and dumber and dumber by the day. These Dem “team” cheerleading suckers are in blatant denial. The Dems in congress don’t give a fuk about peace or love. Their #1 priority is the same as the Repugs: $$$$$$$$$$$$$, war, war crimes, oil, corruption, becoming millionaires, (not a complete list).

I swear, the pathetic Dem kool-aid drinkers are damn fools. I can’t stand them, in part, because apparently they are not paying any attention to what their “savior” war criminal Obama is doing to continue the Cheney/Bush regime under the Obama regime. He has a D behind his name and that’s all that matters to these suckers. Things will be just fine. Yeah, uh huh. These damn fools are still getting off on that “hope” and “change we can believe in” marketing shit. Talk about gullible. These people could be sold anything as long as the salesperson has a D behind their name. And the Dem “team” cheerleaders take absolutely no responsibility or ownership for their own Bush-ass eating party’s role in helping Cheney/Bush/Rove et al accomplish their goals since 2000. They scream about war criminal Bush (as they should). But I don’t see or hear these hypocrites screaming about their precious Dems helping Bush for the past 8 years nor are they screaming about war criminal Obama when he is doing the SAME THINGS that Bush did. Get a fuking clue you damn Dem kool-aid drinking hypocrites. You pathetic idiots. Bush and Cheney could not have done what they did without the help of the Dems with their yes votes (they were not required to vote yes repeatedly), their complicity and their silence. And war criminal Pelosi took impeachment “off the table.” But these Dem kool-aid drinkers are not screaming about that either.

Charlie touched on the reason there is a “lock.” I’ll add to that. The reason there is a “lock” is because most people have been brainwashed with D or R party-line politics from an early age and they can’t conceive of voting for a true progressive so-called “third party” candidate. No, instead they continue to wallow in the D and R rut, which is how we got to where we are today in the first place. Duh. But these D suckers are too damn thick to figure that out and they refuse to come out of their denial and learn from the past. Most people will stay in that rut because most people can’t deprogramme party-line brainwashing on their own. It requires professional help, which most people won’t seek. So there you are.

You basically say that you’re drawn to the Dems because they’re not Republicans. That’s the political equivalent of saying, “Well, sure, I’m a dope dealer but at least I’m not a murderer.” Why be a Dem simply because you believe they are the less offensive of two mediocre political parties?

The current crop of Dems is indistinguishable from the Republicans, and it is only the delusional, jingoistic claptrap of the Party faithful that makes anyone believe there’s a difference between Bush and Obama. Look objectively (if you can) at what Obama is doing. More war, bigger wars, billions of tax dollars for billionaire crooks on Wall St., fighting to protect the Bush-era war criminals, suppressing photos of torture and murder, kowtowing to Israel, invoking 9/11 to justify ongoing slaughter in Afghanistan, cutting social programs to pay for wars, surrounding himself with Goldman Sachs cronies, etc. Where in any of this do you see anything other than the hideous agenda of the far right?

What have the Dems brought us but more misery, deeper debt, an ongoing economic collapse,more war, the horrors of free trade, and outright lies?

You call yourself a “true liberal,” but no true liberal sees anything of value or promise in the current Democratic Party. There are perhaps one or two liberals left in the Party, but most of us were kicked out to make room for the bland, timid, dishonest, duplicitous nitwits who currently hold sway in the Party.

In addition, your wife, with all due respect, apparently didn’t even call herself a Dem until the Republicans became so horribly and undeniably repulsive that she was finally moved to act. Now, she’s a “centrist-progressive” as you put it. That’s Dem-speak for closet conservative.

We agree on one thing: there’s a two-party lock on the country. But it isn’t rooted in history or in the power of either the Dems or the Republicans. It is rooted in the unimaginative and frankly cowardly attitudes of Americans like you who lack the vision and courage to stand up for what is right instead of what is convenient.
