Since I stopped taking the hardcopy daily paper I don’t see my favorite comic strips much any more, so I’ve been grateful to McBozo Wretchie and his decrepisoid pal for providing me with a chuckle at their clownish antics every morning.
However lately it seems their seemingly inexaustible wellsprings of creativity may be drying up to an extent? Everything they’ve posted recently seems to be pretty familiar. I used to marvel at their powers of imagination, wonder how they came up with all the outlandish “shtick”, but lately they seem to be stuck in a rut, repeating the same old stuff. ??

TEL AVIV CELEBRATES ITS CENTENNIAL OF COLONIZATION……… WHILE GAZA LIES IN RUINS.

The city of Tel Aviv was not all “built on sands.”

It was based on the ethnic cleansing of the once proud Jaffa – an important hub city of the Mediterranean, with a port, an industry (Jaffa oranges), an international school system and a lively cultural life for two centuries. It was allotted to Palestine in the UN partition plan of 1947.

Nevertherless, Jaffa was shelled mercilessly by the Irgun in 1948, causing its inhabitants to flee – they were literally “thrown into the sea”, many ending up as refugees in Gaza.

Only 4,000 Palestinian Arabs of the 40,000 population remained, now comprising just 4 % of Tel-Aviv-Jaffa’s population, way below the usual 30% of other “mixed cities” like Ramle and Acre. Even these are under threat of infiltration by extreme religious settlers from the West Bank and greedy real estate developers into Palestinian neighbourhoods.

Palestinians in the now run-down Ajame and Jabaliah eighbourhoods of Jaffa are the subject of intended clearance by the Amidar property company which has imposed fines and eviction orders on the residents for “illegally” improving their houses, that they had refused to allow them to upgrade.

Large sections of this “vibrant bustling “cosmopolitan city “ was built over the ruins of destroyed Palestinian villages of Al-Sumayil, Salame, Sheikh Munis, Abu Kabir. Tel Aviv University was built over the destroyed village of Al- Manshiyeh. The Faculty Club used to be the house of the sheikh of Sheikh Munis”.

Today Tel- Aviv and Jaffa has almost been erased of its Palestinian history and place names. Jaffa is now mainly a picturesque artist’s village and entertainment centre with its previous owner’s houses expropriated.

Yes, there is an amazing array of Bauhaus International-style architecture, but this cannot be celebrated without considering the city’s past, and the brutal realities of the Israeli Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza strip. Gaza has been under an illegal and cruel blockade since 2007, and Israel’s war crimes and wanton killings and mass destruction of have been substantiated by the Goldstone report.

The celebration of the White City, while denying Gaza the building materials to rebuild the thousands of homes, schools, hospitals and factories destroyed by the IDF, is inappropriate and tasteless.

Just to follow-up on Shabnam point regarding people of color and how the Zionist influence even their perspective of politics. Bill Fletcher wrote a piece last week in Black Commentator where he write the following about Ahmedinejad ... Idiotic and anti-Jewish remarks by Iranian President Ahmedinejad have been seized upon in order to focus the world’s attention on Iran’s nuclear intent. The fact that President Ahmedinejad often seems out of touch with reality and is cavalier in his concerns and remarks is disquieting. This prompted me to write the following comment to Fletcher... You write "Idiotic and anti-Jewish remarks by Iranian President Ahmedinejad have been seized upon in order to focus the world’s attention on Iran’s nuclear intent." Yet you never offer a reference to those "remarks" nor provide a single quotation. My guess is because Ahmedinejad never made any "anti-Jewish" remarks. Ahmedinejad is guilty of making anti-ZIONIST comments which are very much welcomed. Ahmedinejad is capable of making the distinction between Zionism and Judaism which often gets conflated in order to circumvent criticism of Zionism. For African Americans, it is especially important to speak out against the racist ideology of Zionism as it has created a backlash against ALL people of color. The Left especially has been extremely weak confronting this racist ideology and speaking out against Zionism. This weakness by the Left has manifested into a glaring weakness confronting institutional racism in the U.S. which effectually harms African American and all minorities. Not once did you use the term Zionism in your article. I think some introspection on your part of the power and influence of Zionism on the American political economy is necessary. All people of color must take a confrontational stance like Ahmedinejad and stand in solidarity with him in the struggle against Zionism. The response I got from Fletcher ... Then read some other things that i have written if you are concerned that i do not address Zionism. Ahmedinejad is a loose cannon. Thanks. Bill As you can plainly see herein lies why Zionism is extremely influential in the political economy of the United States of America. Perhaps the impetus of Mr. Fletcher's defensiveness has to do with they years he spent at the Institute for Policy Studies where Phyllis Bennis and the role she and UFPJ played in weakening the anti-war movement.

Israelis flatten Palestinian homes

Israeli authorities have demolished two Palestinian-owned structures in East Jerusalem, in defiance of international calls to stop such actions.

Palestinian reports say a family of five was forcibly evicted from their home in the Beit Hanina district before the building was demolished.

Israeli bulldozers then destroyed the foundations of another building nearby.

UN officials say such demolitions violate international law and raise serious humanitarian concerns.

Israel says buildings subject to demolition orders have been built without permits.

Palestinians say it is virtually impossible to obtain the necessary approval from Israel’s municipal authorities in Jerusalem.

The Israeli human rights group B’Tselem , says the authorities have demolished about 420 Palestinian-owned houses in East Jerusalem since 2004 saying they were built without permits.

Israel occupied the territory in the 1967 war and annexed it soon afterwards in a move that has not been recognised internationally.

I think if you investigate Obama’s political roots further, you will find he is fully owned by the Zionazis, like Blair and others, including the entire US Congress. I think, if I may be so bold as to say so, that your mistake is in believing that the Zionazis act rationally. I think the early Israeli fascists were cold and calculating in their steadfast resolve to establish a Judaic Reich in ‘Eretz Yisrael’, but they were rational, retreating from untenable expansions as when Begin returned the Sinai, in order to concentrate on absorbing the West Bank and destroying the Palestinians. The Sinai can be re-conquered later. Nowadays the Zionazis have been taken over not by Labor socialists, or Jabotinskyite fascists, but by religious fundamentalist lunatics, akin to a Judaic Taliban. The ascent of the settler movement and its extreme racism, rooted in a religious extremism beyond belief, makes rational policy less and less likely. The attack on Iran would be worse that a crime, it would be a mistake, but I believe that the Zionazi protagonists are clinically insane, so any miscalculation is possible. And, no matter how gigantic the offense, even the use of nuclear weapons, we all know that the Western lackeys of Judaic money power in politics and the media will ‘jump on board’, pronto. To save the life forms on this planet another miracle of the Universe as far as we know we have to admit we were wrong one of the hardest things for a human to do. You add the Capitalist system because of it’s nature and to admit we are wrong becomes even harder. Well fear not as on this present path we will not have star ship’s to conquer other World’s in just a few years we will not have food and water and if we use those nuclear weapons on ourselves it won’t matter anyway. There is no easy answers to these problems and that in it’s self is part of the problem. We made it to easy and very easy for some now we are trying to hold on to easy if you can call it that. Here in the States the President fly’s around in air force one and all that goes with that and stay’s in houses that cost how much as people Worldwide are going down the drain in not such slow motion. The bank’s are well capitalized Wall Street seems to be doing alright for now using the same system that got us to this point and why because easy is the game and admitting your wrong hard to do and of course having a soul help’s a lot.
