In fact, all “promises” are nonfactual utterances; i. e., lies. In such “promises”, i include implied/tacit “promises”
Obviously, no one can know future. So, why ‘promise’? Even an election of a prez or any pol contains an implicatory or tacit “promise” that with new and more ‘honest’, ‘wiser’ people in management of people’s affairs, situations wld improve.
Why change managers or husbands/wives if that wasn’t the expectation?

Changing a general, team manager, principal is imbued by changers with tacit “promises” that a next general wld either bring victory and soon or at least manage the war better.
