You see, the Vatican hires The Swiss to be it's soldiers. Does that not tell you something? ? Italians are known, the world over, not to be of soldiery stuff. It's true, too bad. Sending Italians into any conflict area is ridiculous because they couldn't fight there way out of an English soccer stadium. Again, another case were international UN-NATO bureaucracy is just a Joke. And why are armed forces of any kind in Afghanland? O, yeah, is the war on terror STILL GOING ON?

The effect of events in Italy and Germany, plus the Polish misiles, will probably be to put an end to the idea of sending any more European troops to Afghanistan. The US never had the means to carry on its current wars alone (hence the "coalitions"), so the US will simply bleed slowly until it finds some pretext to give up. From that point on, the US can no longer make a credible claim to be "the sole superpower". That has all kinds of wonderful implications.
