H.M. the two comments above yours i believe to be written by 'professors' if that explains anything.

Good information Mohhamed. I believe that human poverty and debasement are manmade and not nature made. The world elite are determined to decrease populatios and thereby enjoy spacious luxuary for themselves. They are 'saving' the planet for themselves alone. Got worms, too bad, even though they have the wealth of the whole world, they won't lift a finger to help the poor.

The above two comments of Mr Kenny and B99 are the most petty, superficial and patronising I have ever read so far. I think these two gentlemen are totally missing out the point here and focusing only on trivial details.

The reality of global existence, and of the moral malignancy of the leading planetary powers, and the pseudo-humans that control the economic and political systems of our world, is so unspeakably cruel and wicked one is left wishing that a just and vengeful deity might actually exist, just so that the psychopaths responsible might get their eternal just desserts. No such luck I fear. Our one consolation must be the almost certain knowledge that these monsters are so stupid, so blindly driven by greed, that they do seem, contrary to all common-sense and rationality, about to cause the extinction of our species through ecological collapse, and hence the blight of Homo sapiens will be confined to this planet, which will take millions of years to recover from the descerations of the upstart ape, and not escape into the cosmos to destroy and violate other worlds, other existences.

Actually, South America is pretty much east of North America.

Strictly speaking, the eastern half of the world is a longitude line going through Greenwich, England eastward 180 degrees to the the International Date Line. The western half is the remaining 180 degrees of longitude.

Small point: Mr Mesbahi needs to be a bit more rigorous in his geographic terminology. He starts off talking about "the developing world" and "OECD countries", which sounds fine to me. But then he starts talking about "the West" and contrasts it with Burkina Faso and Chad. So "the West" cannot include Europe, which lies to the North of those countries. Same problem for North America, because he speaks of South America, which as its name suggests, does not lie to the east of North America! He then goes on to talk about "North" and "South", which also sounds fine to me. Since the Earth is round, "east" and "west" are relative terms, whereas "north" and "south" are objective. For an American, for example, Paris is in the east and Beijing in the west. "Developing world" v "developed world" would probably be more accurate.

On his substantive point, the collpase of US power will set off a slow but radical change in the situation he describes. I would guess that the WTO will continue to exist but it will become the guardian of fair trade rather than the instrument whwerby the US elite rams its economic dogmas down the throat of an essentailly undogmatic world.
