The first one was handed out today by a General hung about with gold braid and medals. Mrs Upton is left to bring up her three children alone. Talking to US while it occupies afgh'n, cannot be called "negotiating". Talking by freedom fighters to gain a little bit of this and that is OK. and in the view that nato may never give up its [in]direct control negotiations wld amount to crying uncle. nato also has many options, afghans have only one: liberate the country. It can hire non-europeans to occupy afgh'n; it can use wmd; reward uzbeks or tajiks with their own states; destroy poppy fields; prevent arms from being sold to pashtuns, etc. since pashtuns are killing so few nato soldiers, nato at that rate of loss can stay there for decennia. nato can invent even better weapons and simply bomb and missile, bomb and missile. it wld better if pashtuns did nor resist militarily. tnx yes to any negotiations but not while nato occupies afgh’n.
