The common denominator however, was age - the large majority of those who died were the aged - they were left to drown, or pinned under debris, or abandoned by caretakers. The only difference between the US pre Obama and the Roman Empire seems it be that none of the American leaders could blame it on lead water pipes like the Roman elites, but the sma rot is in the foundation - only in the US it is happening more quickly. Can Obama save it? I doubt it but perhaps the basic Jefferson/Lincoln/FDR concer and the ultimate vote in the hands of everyman/everywoman is the ultimate purge. To an outsider it was sickening to see that no one really cared about the poor and the blacks ion Newv Orleans. I'm alright Jack.
