I basically agree with you regarding the Cash Plus investors as well as the Madoff scam victims. I will shed no tears for either. What interested me about this story is how similar "the scam" is to everyday life. Everyone gets taxed, not by scam artists, but by banks looking to enhance profits by charging fees - ATM fees, Check-cashing fees, low balance fees, bounced check fees... They knew just like everyone else that 2+2=4 but wanted to believe that 2+2=5. They are paying for their own greed.
