US Presidents are trying to [underline] roll back [underline] leftism in Latin America. Wow! What a news flash!

Meanwhile, the man who is pushing to replace class analysis and simple realism with personally-patented ZPC talk can't spell "Mikhail Gorbachev," whom he also dismisses as some kind of collaborationist.

We are in big trouble here on the "left."

Thank you, dear James Petras!
Moreover, I can join you John: it is nearly the same in Germany. German mass medias are reporting about Honduras only cautiously trying to be "balanced".
They scarcely consider history, which James is mentioning since the 1950s, which they could know if they really wanted.
Michael Jackson is dominating the headlines instead.
Well, as always, I copied the article and will try to spread it.
Desparately, neverless gratefully.

Another good piece James. Thankyou.

I don't know what it's like in the States, but here in the UK there has been almost a total news blackout about Honduras. If I didn't look for my news on the net I wouldn't know anything had happened there.

I don't buy a newspaper every day, but the last two copies of The Times I bought (supposedly one of the best papers in the world) didn't mention the word 'Honduras' anywhere that I could see. As for BBC news, forget about it (although I did see a story about Honduras on their website). Our media managed to find time and space for endless coverage of the sad demise of Michael Jackson, plenty about civil unrest in China, news about those naughty 'pirates' in Somalia and apparent sightings of 'green shoots' of economic recovery... but not a single word about Honduras. No doubt our media are still checking their sources in their tireless quest for truth and impartiality.

This is a cogent analysis, in my opinion, and one hopes, accurate. The wild card I believe is Israel. I know it is probably silly to rely on such sources, but I am bemused by reports that Bibi Netanyahu is apparently going bonkers, accusing Rahm Emanuel and Axelrod, the two chief Zionist enforcers in 'house Negro' Obama's administration, of being 'self-hating Jews'. I know this may be cunning agit-prop, but if true, allied with Netanyahu's coterie of extreme Judeofascist advisers, the increasingly deranged viciousness of Judaic Taliban (the so-called 'settlers')pogroms against the Palestinians in the Occupied Territories and the general descent of Israeli politics into quasi-Nazi race hatred and barbarity against the various Amalekites it is victimising, I fear a tragic explosion of Israeli violence. After all this is a society where extreme Rightwing racist ideologies that would be (notionally) condemned outright in most civilised countries, are represented in the Israeli Cabinet. This is a country where public figures speak of the Palestinians as Amalekites, God's 'eternal enemy', and whose total destruction is a sanctified injunction, without any great disturbance to their careers. A country where race hatred of the occupied Palestinians has long been even more extreme than that exhibited by the Israelis' former great allies the Afrikaaner South Africans towards the untermenschen there. I really believe some sort of Israeli attack on Iran is now inevitable, the option of subversion having failed. What I really fear is that Israeli politics are now so deranged, its leadership so far gone into moral insanity and the influence of extreme racist and religiously apocalyptic fundamentalist elements, both Judaic, and 'Christian Zionist' amongst its allies in the US, that there is a not negligible risk that Israel will use nuclear weapons. After all it has gotten away with every other imaginable travesty owing to Judaic control of the West's politics, media and business through unparalleled money power, so why not 'go for broke'. After all, as in the era of Reagan, when his regime was dominated by those who saw nuclear Armageddon with the USSR as being part of God's 'divine plan', the Israeli establishment is now dominated by religiously demented fundamentalists who follow an interpretation of Judaic religious law that sees the murder of 'enemy civilians' as a 'mitzvah' or good deed.
