Iran has a notoriously bad air safety record. Because of sanctions imposed by the United States, Iran relies on an increasingly ageing fleet of airliners, and has trouble buying spares.

There are tales of aircrew buying spare parts on flights to Europe, then sneaking them back to Iran in the cockpit. While those sanctions don’t apply to aircraft from Russia and Ukraine, many planes from those countries in the Iranian fleet also appear well past their best.

For some people, flying in Iran can be a nerve-wracking experience. Stepping on board, it often becomes quickly apparent you are in a plane that has done many years service.

There are also frequent delays because of the shortage of aircraft. Iranian engineers and aircrew do their best to keep their fleets in service.

And there was a time where of course the mother rule didn’t apply for some “Jews” …Again, Jew by religion has more credibility over Jew by blood? By your own words you believe Palestinians descended from original Jews…Does this mean if they denounce their current religion and go backwards to what your people later adopted that they’d get their homes back?

Explosives En Route to Hizbullah Caused Deadly Iran Plane Crash

Explosives en route to the Hizbullah terrorist group caused a Russian-made plane to crash in Iran two weeks ago, claiming the lives of 168 people, according to a report in the Italian paper Corriere Della Sera on Saturday.

The report quoted Middle East sources who said the plane, which took off from Tehran and was headed for Armenia, was carrying in its luggage compartment several metal cases with two kilograms of explosives and detonators destined for the Lebanese terrorist group. The shipment was meant to have continued by land from Armenia to Turkey, then to Syria, and finally to Lebanon.

Only 16 minutes after takeoff, the pilot of the Tupolev jet reported an emergency. Shortly afterwards, the plane crashed near the city of Qazvin. Eyewitnesses reported hearing explosions in the plane before it crashed into the ground.

The Italian paper also said that a member of the elite Iranian Revolutionary Guards was on board the plane to monitor the delivery of the goods to Hizbullah and that Iranian security forces arrived at the plane crash site. Iranian authorities have said that they recovered the plane’s three black boxes but have not yet offered an explanation for the fatal crash.

The report also said that the explosives were meant to be concealed in southern Lebanon, but after an explosion in a Hizbullah weapons depot only a few days before the flight, the terrorist group decided they would be safer north of the Litani river. Tensions rose in southern Lebanon between Hizbullah and UNIFIL forces following the July 14th blast which reportedly destroyed a Hizbullah weapons cache, including numerous Katushya rockets.

Critically-injured peace activist Tristan Anderson moved into Rehab

Tristan Anderson, who was critically wounded by a high-velocity tear gas canister fired at his head by Israeli forces in March, has been moved from the intensive care unit of the Tel Hashomer hospital in Tel Aviv into a Rehabilitation Center at the hospital.

Anderson, a 37-year old peace activist from California, was participating in a non-violent demonstration against the Israeli Annexation Wall in the Palestinian village of Bil’in when he was shot in the head. He was taken to an Israeli hospital, where his girlfriend and parents have stayed by his side for the past two months while he remained in critical condition.

Now, according to one of Anderson’s friends, he has been moved into the Rehabilitation section of the hospital, where he has begun to undergo speech therapy. His friend added, “Unfortunately, because of a brain fluid (csf) leak that he developed, he is often too tired to fully participate. Surgery is planned for the future to repair the leak and reconstruct his skull. “

Since Anderson was injured on March 13th, one peace activist has been killed, and two more have been critically injured by the high-velocity tear gas canisters fired by Israeli forces directly at Palestinian protesters. The Israeli forces regularly use the tear gas canisters as weapons, according to multiple human rights groups and international observers, as well as Palestinian witnesses and participants in the weekly non-violent demonstrations.

On April 17th, Bassem Abu Rahme, 29, was shot directly in the chest by a tear gas canister fired at close range by an Israeli soldier, and killed. Bassem Abu Rahme was the 18th individual to be killed by Israeli forces during a demonstration against the Wall.

Abu Rahme was shot by the same type of tear-gas projectile, labeled “40 mm bullet, special/long range” and shaped like a large bullet, that critically injured Tristan Anderson in March. These specialized tear gas projectiles are produced in Israel, and tested on non-violent demonstrators in the Israeli-Occupied West Bank.
