In the greatest Nation on Earth so far the best these highly intelligent so called leaders can come up with is cap and trade. With what we have already done to this planet you add climate change to the mix and faster much faster to zero day. Why is this the best that highly intelligent so called leaders can come up with because there minds are about high school level thinking granted they went to college and most became lawyers oh boy. 2 million to start in front of the Capital calm at peace one voice loud and clear so the highly intelligent so called leaders can hear you. I can just hear Mitch McConnell now on the floor of the Senate. "Wait do you hear that? "What is that song tomorrow tomorrow it's only a day away"? "Where is it coming from"? That would be the people Mitch.

We human's were smart enough to dig for oil and use the land for food with the help of that oil. Now that we know the story doesn't have a happy ending we keep doing it anyway. We right now are not smart enough to slow this down so we need to slowdown until we are. Wait you mean I can't eat meat or have a pizza when I want it or fly to the North to see the total eclipse of the moon yes that is exactly what it means. Oh how could I ever go on well that's just it go on.

Food for Thought

How Much of the Amazon Rainforest Has Been Lost and How Quickly?
Since the 1970s, when satellite mapping of the region became available, around a fifth of the rainforest has been destroyed, an area the size of California. Greenpeace US estimates that, between 2007 and 2008, another 3m acres (1.2m hectares) have been destroyed.

What Is Driving the Destruction?
Logging, cattle farming and soy plantations are key, plus the increased construction of dams and road, and shifting patterns of farming for local people and mining (for diamonds, bauxite, manganese, iron, tin, copper, lead and gold). Guardian

That is just the Amazon where do we get palm oil and what do we have to do to get it and on and on and not forever. 10 years and that could be pushing it the fight for survival starts it has already started for many but soon we all get a piece of the action. To start now would be smart but oh no faster more of the same ok. The 20% of human's who do most of this well like Lovelock said surprise surprise. Control of nothing but a system out of control. It doesn't have to be this way but so far just faster and more better known as growth surprise surprise.

john andrews,
right on. There are so many orgs, movements, aid agencies, peace groups, think tanks but with growth of military power it get's easier to kill children, women, and men.

we seem to have only one party; not even two or three. In US we definately have one party: war party; facing an armada of armless/brainless orgs.
guess who wins? And every time? tnx

As the world slowly comes round to realise that the self proclaimed 'champions of freedom and democracy' are anything but, and are in fact the new champions of oppression and tyranny, just like any other empire that preceded them; so too will people slowly realise that the UN has been utterly powerless since its creation; and is only permitted to exist at all because of services it can occasionally render to the Empire - like legitimising its wars.

The 'aid' agencies do indeed provide a useful function. They provide the vehicle for other countries to pick up the tab for humanitarian relief in places devastated by the Empire. Furthermore supplying 'aid' to depsperate people has long been used as a wedge to prize open new economic controls of sovereign nations. So yes, the 'aid' agencies are doing very nicely thank you, and will probably continue to do so for some time to come.

The UN is a wonderful idea, and the only real hope there is for world peace. But it will not be able to serve its intended purpose whilst rogue empires are permitted to exist.

The only force the Empire truly fears is its own people - and with good reason: only its own people are capable of controlling it. They just need to figure out how.
